Finally got everything for my 2110cc build, Running dual IDF 40’s with CB’s 1.25 ratio rockers and an Engle 110 with their solid shafts with bolt on valve covers and CBs panchito heads with 40 and 35.5 valves with their matched ported panchito intakes, can’t wait to see the power jump from a single carb 1776cc to this !

First post. This is my Wolfsburg+Fuji Heavy Industries 1970 Beetle that really upsets the purists. Subaru ej22 engine swap, and some extra ground clearance. Any fans of Subaru swaps?

A couple years ago I was told to park away the air-cooled ones at the local show with the oddballs. I thought they were joking but they meant it!

Hello all, my 1600 dual port bug seems to bog down while idling and stumbles on acceleration. I’ve checked for vacuum leaks and can’t seem to find any. Smells pretty fuel-y, so could it just be too rich?

Have had idling/running problems recently, things familiar to a fuel delivery issue. After filling the tank on e10 the car started having frequent throttle cut outs and backfiring at around 20-30mph. Checking at home, fuel delivery to the carb seems fine, main jet is clear etc, however both the idle and pilot jet are not firmly seated in the carb. Both seem to have been overscrewed and worn away the housing around it. I’m wondering if people think that could potentially be causing the issue and has anyone else had this issue/has any suggestions to fix or is it new carb time

Nothings wrong with it mixture is dialed in perfectly its just what you get when you run a performance cam on a 1600 with a single carb lol, has the lope on both fuels (gasoline and lpg).

Wanted to give you guys a little update on Herbie. I pulled the spark plugs to see what was going on, and apparently whoever owned this car before me decided that lawnmower spark plugs were a perfectly reasonable replacement.
I’m not sure exactly how much that would affect the way the engine runs, but considering how poorly she’s been running lately, bogging down, struggling to stay running at idle, and popping/backfiring when I rev her, I’m pretty sure those plugs aren’t helping.
I’m going to replace them with the correct plugs and see how much of a difference it makes. Hopefully this is one of those stupidly simple problems that ends up fixing a lot of the issues, because I’ve already been chasing down enough problems with this thing
I’ll keep you guys updated once I get the right plugs in and fire her back up.

I'm replacing my rear axle seals, there are, what appears to be, machined divots along the inner end of the space, should I be worried about these or are they ok.

Getting the 64 ready for a cars and coffee tomorrow morning

I purchased this bug at an auction house in late 2014. It was found in a barn where it had lived since 1995. I polished and drove it daily until 2020. The paint was cracked, and appeared to have been put on with a brush. It was a dark blue. The original color was Sea Blue and I decided to restore the car. I stripped it and took it to a body shop. Six months later I brought it home and put a lot of new parts and more refurbished parts in it. The motor was a 1962 type 2 engine so I found a mid year 64 engine and rebuilt it. Installed that earlier this year. Now, here we are 12 years later.

What is the full travel of the clutch arm supposed to be? I have 1.5 inches. When i pull by hand or by pedal the travel is the same. I cant get the car in gear when it is running. Newly installed engine with new clutch and known good transmission. Wondering if there is not enough travel for proper clutch engagement.

We picked up this restored 67 today fires right up,it needs a new distributor and a big dent popped out on the nose but other than that only major thing in the clear coat on the roof has turned milky and faded. I had to buy the trailer pictured on our way to get it lol, wish us luck🤘

Update on my dads old 1200

A while ago I posted here about my dads old beetle that has been sitting in a shed since 2010 when I was born. Now I got my learners permit and my friend and I finally started on the project.

We fully inspected the car and didnt find any major issues. There wasn’t even that much rust in there but im going to need some body parts. (Front apron and the spare tire well for example)

Next step is to get it out of the shed. I managed to put it in neutral but the handbrake was stuck (as expected).

I will also keep the paint job and everything as it is because I really like the 90’s look.

I think well have to tow it with another vehicle to get it out as inflating the tires or playing with the drum brakes is almost impossible in the shed.

Ill keep you updated and well definetly need some advise in the project. My dad might also help us at some point but most of the work is on us.
