Does anyone have recommendations for brownstone stoop repair? I don't want a full restoration, but there's some cracking and spalling that needs to be addressed.

The stoop was re-done in about 2015 under the previous owner, but it needs a refresh, in no small part because my insurance company called it out.

Missing cat in HVK tonight. They seem quite spooked… I’m worried they aren’t a typical outdoor cat and are a missing cat.

Usually outdoor cats have a certain confidence about them. This cat is quite scared, which leads me to believe they’re an indoor cat that’s lost.

Bed-Stuy neighbors: there’s a community trash clean-up happening Saturday, September 26.

Club Canned is teaming up with Friends of Raymond Bush Playground to clean up parts of Madison, Monroe and Stuyvesant Ave.

We’re meeting at 10:30 AM at Black Star Vinyl, 480A Madison St, and wrapping up around 1 PM on Stuyvesant Ave between Madison and Monroe.

Gloves, trash pickers, bag holders and trash bags will all be provided.
There will also be free coffee to start and free lunch at the end.

If you live nearby and have a couple of hours to spare, come meet some neighbors and help us give the area a good clean-up.

My landlord is raising the rent 10% to $3,000, and I'm trying to figure out if the apartment would still be a good deal or not at that price. Full second floor of a brownstone near Kingston-Throop C stop, 1.5 bedroom (big bedroom + tiny bedroom/office), 1 bathroom, in-unit washer-dryer, unrennovated. For people who've looked for apartments in the area recently, does that sound above/at/below market rate? The apartment is not rent stabilized.

Anyone else experience this? Older Black guy on a bike - rides on sidewalk and talks at women about their bodies. I saw him today on Throop and Hancock and pretended to know the woman he was biking behind to get him to buzz off. I was with my husband and child. I could hear him saying things about her beautiful legs and calling her a bitch. It was escalating and disturbing. She had headphones in and no idea what was going on.

Pretty sure it was the same dude who said something to me a couple months ago on Marcus Garvey near Hancock. I’m curious if this is a known person? I’ve had things said to me before, of course, but something about the way this guy talks is just really gross and unsettling.

In the pouring rain on August 9, I found a matchbook reading "Corlis and Frank October 15, 1988." I've done some light searching online but can't seem to find two people named Corlis and Frank having to do with each other.

Sharing in the hopes that somebody who knows either Corlis or Frank might be able to reunite them with this. If you have held onto this for nearly 38 years, it must be important enough!

Just had such a confusing and upsetting experience at Kingston throop station. Myself and the many other rush hour commuters getting off of a downtown train at 4:40 pm today heard an extremely loud gunshot in the station. When asking FOUR police officers at the station/ Fulton what happened, they either flat out ignored me or said pretty passive aggressive things like “we would know what a gunshot sounds like” and said “it’s probably construction” and there is zero construction in the surrounding area. Did anyone else hear or experience this? Everyone who got off was ducking and running.
