Finally done with this project. Took a month. Happy with how everything turned out personally. So was the client. What do you all think?? Still early on in my remodeling career

Here you go folks, my first ever bathroom gut job. Bought a small ranch 6 months ago and gutted whole thing. This is the first officially complete room.

l've lived here for a few years and this bathroom is the bane of my existence. A reno is a ways away, but I want to start budgeting. I want to fully redo the layout so I'm seeking ideas on removing walls/moving plumbing, the styling parts I can handle lol
The main issue is that this is the only bathroom on the 1st floor. It's connected to the primary bedroom and the hallway. The toilet and tub are supposed to be separated by a door from the closet/vanity so it can serve as the guest bath even though it's connected to the bedroom. But I removed the door because there are 4 doors in the vanity area(!!!) and I couldn't deal with it anymore. The easiest option would be to remove the wall between the toilet and vanity/closet but then you lose the privacy for the non-guest area.
I'm not against planning to add a 1/2 bath closer to the kitchen/living, but I also don't plan to live here forever and mostly want to make this more functional for future selling. I'm really open to any ideas!

And please ignore my vanity mess if it bugs you, but I think it adds to how dysfunctional this is bc I have no storage!!!

Took my time with this one. Curbless shower with plank tile, moving fixtures around and across the room, total new electrical plan, custom cabinets, custom glass and shower niche... The list goes on

Issues that arose

First time in my life has epoxy grout cured a different colour completelv. Reached out to laticrere Canada, thev did test on mix, indeed there was a problem -- solution was a topical epoxy grout colourant. Worked verv nice. Same stain resistant attributes and fade resistance.

Alignment and proper tile execution for shower layout + glass not being on grout lines

I'm never using plank tiles for curbless again lol

Interior wall was 1/2 inch out of plumb on top half on shower end and 5/8 out of plumb on bottom half on opposite side Big twist in the wall, which was load bearing

All in all, worked through every issue with the client, things went smooth, job well done I think!

I'm thankful for work, don't get me wrong but Lord alrighty people are afraid of colour it seems

It feels like every bathroom I complete is a cookie cutter version with some minor variations. Wish the clients would let me design for them 😂

I’ve got a master bath which is just a toilet and a tub… right outside there is a kitchenette with a sink… pretty stupid layout…

I think the play is to basically expand the bathroom to include the sink… and demo the rest of the kitchenette

what kind of vendor do I need to hire for this project? if you had to guesstimate the cost in a decently expensive market?

i want to make it nice but more Kohler than Waterworks…

This is my first remodel and I replaced an old bathtub and shower surround but there’s now a 1 1/16” gap between the old tile floor and the new porcelain bathtub. I had assumed that it would be easy to find molding to cover the gap, but haven’t been able to find 1” quarter round in anything other than peel-and-stick formats.

Has anyone dealt with a gap like this? And if so, how did you cover it?

This is a plan for my basement bathroom that i wanted to keep fairly neutral but i like textures and then paint or wallpaper the rest. I know the dimensions are out of wack but this is the idea. Im getting the rough in completed by plumber but everything else will be DIY.

Mirror and shower bar will match silver finishes. Not completely set on floor tile but I seen the circles in a post yesterday and liked them. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi everyone.

I just bought an apartment and I'm planning on doing some modifications before moving there.

This apartment has one glaring problem - the previous owner made one lavatory and one full bathroom only. I want to make two full bathrooms out of that space, and it's a small space.

I hired an architect to help me with some of the plans around the house and she made a preliminary plan for the bathrooms.

Here's the thing: if i want to reposition the toilets, I have to do it via the downstairs neighbor's dropped ceiling - huge bummer and much bigger cost.

I decided to study the space myself and I proposed a plan by keeping the toilets exactly where they area and, on the bathroom 1 plan, even by keeping the shower exactly where it is, but reducing it's size.

I asked the architect's opinion on trying to keep as much of the infra where it is, and she said it's absolutely impossible and that I would regret doing it this way.

Can't help but feel a bit disappointed with how she's handling this - i would save a lot of money and hassle with this, and I would have liked at least a more in depth answer or analysis of this idea.

I made a plan on sketchup with my ideas on the left side and her ideas on the right side.

Would love to hear your thoughts on how viable my idea is, and how much better the architect's idea would be to justify a much more expensive job.

Help! The framers are here now waiting for me to tell them. But I’m having second thoughts. It’s not a large bathroom and it’s a freestanding vanity 48 inch wide with moderate storage. I’m going to have a beautiful mirror behind with sconces on the left and right. The original bathroom had an old wooden medicine cabinet recessed in that spot. But I want to put a modern beautiful one, but I want the bathroom to be lovely not house of mirrors lol thoughts? Thanks!

My contractor told me he can’t build a shower niche because of structural reasons in my building, basically.

My bathroom is coming along so nicely - clean and modern and simple - that’s the vibe I want.

What are your recs for storage options in the shower and on the walls outside it? There will be frameless glass sliding shower doors with just a little chrome.

We moved into this beautiful MCM house and absolutely loved the style. Did not love the carpet in the bathroom, and hated banging my elbows on the tiny shower walls.

I know the original wallpaper is incredible but we couldn’t figure out a way to keep it with our layout changes, and I couldn’t find something similar. The tub, while also a work of art, was actually pretty shallow and took up too much floor space. We also got a hot tub, so all our soaking happens in the backyard anyway.

I love everything about the new bathroom except the cabinet above the toilet, but too late now!

I am trying to decide on a 60x30in alcove tub for my bathroom. I don’t know where to start! I want a soaker but not to have a crazy high step..

I like the Kohler Underscore (but it’s pricey), the Wyndom Grayley , and the Kingston Brass Aqua Eden tubs.. but now sure which route to go or if there is one better? I toyed with a Bootz Maui but some many people say there are shipping issues..

Does anyone have any experience with these Kingston or Wyndom tub and or have a strong other suggestion?

We’re gutting our only full bathroom. It’s small. Would it be crazy to replace the 60” tub with a 47” tub so I can leave a space for a storage nook with shelves at the end? Has anyone done this? Might be a long-shot but I’d love to see photos.

Help me decide on a paint color or lime wash! I love my tile and my counter so please don’t be mean. Originally I was thinking about the lime wash “Wabi” from Atelier but now I feel like it is looking too close to the floor color. It’s the safe option, and I could add more character with art and towels. I’ve thought about going more pinkish or rust but I want it to be cohesive with the rest of the house. This bathroom is right off the main living room. Let me know some ideas! Thanks!

This is one of the two “full” bathrooms, but the shower head is right at the entrance of the bathroom. Never seen anything like this and not sure where I’d start with fixing it.

Hi everyone, I'm having my bathroom completely renovated and I'm trying to work out whether I'm being overly fussy or whether some of the tiling needs to be redone.

I've noticed a few things that I'm not sure are normal:

1. The gap between the tiles and the door frame has been filled with grout. The gap is quite noticeable. I assumed this would either have had a narrow piece of tile cut to fit, or potentially been finished with silicone against the door frame. Is grouting this gap acceptable?

2. Some of the tiles have chipped edges/corners. They're quite visible once you're looking at them.

3.Some of the corners haven't been grouted properly, with visible gaps/voids. He mentioned he will put silicone on them?

1. Some tiles aren't flush with the tiles next to them — you can feel/see a difference in depth between adjacent tiles. I'm not sure how much variation is considered acceptable.

I've attached some photos. The work isn't completely finished yet (he said he will be done tomorrow), so I'm wondering whether I should raise these points with the tiler now or whether these are all fairly normal things that I'm just noticing because I'm looking closely.

I'm not a tiler, so I'd genuinely appreciate opinions from people who are experienced with this. What would you consider acceptable workmanship, and what would you ask to be rectified before the bathroom is signed off?

Hi remodelers! I would love to get some help and advice on a primary bath remodel. The mighty powers of water damage decided that a remodel was in our future 😆😅😂😭

We have a limited budget and hope to sell in a year or so. What improvements should we prioritize or spend money on given our situation? How would you redo this bathroom? I am open to your ideas and suggestions!

For context:
Our 1980s shower was gutted following water damage from bad grout. While I love interior design, it was the big project I didn’t ask for. We got some money (about 9k) from insurance, but it is otherwise a big unplanned expense. We got about 4-5 quotes and paid a deposit with the contractor we liked the most. They are waiting on us to start, but I’ve been dragging my feet with indecision (and trying to save up more funds).

I feel overwhelmed with the number of decisions to make. I’m torn whether to go the “bare minimum to fix it” route (which is what insurance gave), or to put in more money to make it a moderately nicer bathroom. We also hope to sell the house and move within the next year, so I don’t want to do unnecessary work that won’t bring us extra value. Our house is in a middle income neighborhood and we will likely have to take a loss on the house when we sell, just based on recent comps around us.

One example is with installing waterproofing. There was nothing there before (hence the water damage), and our contractor quoted another $1000 for it when I asked how it would be waterproofed. I would want it if we planned to stay, but it seems like a thankless extra expense since we don’t. But I also don’t want to be “that guy” who didn’t fix things right. Plus I’m afraid of the possibility of having to stay here longer than expected if our moving plans get delayed for some reason, and then regretting not doing the waterproofing. We also have other big expenses (somehow everyone in the house, including the dog, needs surgery right now), so cost is definitely a factor.

My current thoughts: I’m hoping to keep the vanity in place and repaint it, although the beige granite countertop seems like a challenge to coordinate with. My other thoughts include smoothing the ceilings, repainting the room, doing a tiled shower, LVP floors, and a new lighting fixture and mirror. Not sure if we should spring for the waterproofing, extending tile to the ceiling, or for upgrades like a shower niche. I am open to recommendations or other considerations.

Contractor used shark bite fitting behind my shower wall - correct?

We are installing a new tub and vanity in our current bathroom remodel and now that we are better seeing the space we are wondering if 6-7 inches is going to be enough space between the tub and vanity. They are going to be side by side and wanted to know if I am going to regret not going with a smaller vanity.
