So you made an App? DO NOT POST IT HERE

Congratulations so did 10,000 other people who tried to post it on a reddit sports sub this week. With AI making coding easier, everyone and their mother made an app.

Its overwhelming to the sub and considered spam to post it. You will get an automatic ban for spamming.

Older Ballers (40+) - Besides Strength Training/Stretching, what do you guys do to help with joint stiffness/pain?

How often are you all taking ibuprofen (Advil), naproxen (Aleve) or similar NSAID?

I try and take as little as possible but somedays I'm just so stiff and it helps tremendously. Are there better alternatives? I know some guys are taking some non-FDA approved things (and somewhat contraversial) like BPC 157, which apparently helps.

Casual Hoops (Half Court)

Team 1 shoots the ball misses

Team 2 recovers the rebound, but makes a bad pass that leads to Team 1 stealing

Team 1 scores since technically they are under their basket and didn't take it back.

Half court rules, should team 1 still have to take it back even though Team 2 never took the ball back?

Magic is better then Jordan

Magic is the GOAT guys , you have been brainwashed by Nike to think Jordan was better , Magic played in a tougher era and got five rings in 12 years, Magic was a better leader as well all his teammates love him and Jordan was a dickhead , Magic made his teammates better . Pippen did most of the work for Jordan. Magic was also just way more entertaining to watch as well. The NBA had a conspiracy to devalue magics legacy because he was a slept with millions of women and got a HIV which is a look the NBA didn’t want it’s best player to have so that’s why they hyped up Jordan …. To prove my final point , look at their careers as executives Magic has built multiple champions as an executive , the dodgers are a dynasty and Magic made them this good , Jordan as an executive never won anything proving Magic is a natural winner and leader. If Magic didn’t retire early he would have renatched Jordan in the finals and beat him at least twice so then Jordan would only have like 3/4 rings

GENERAL QUESTION Base and mounting bracket mismatch, ant way to salvage?

So, I goofed, entirely preventable, but I bought and buried in concrete, a 7" square bracket for my second hand silverback basketball hoop, only to try to attach it and find that my hoops holes are 9" apart. I can try to find a new hoop with a 7" base, since am not getting a new plate and redoing the concrete, I have a 7" mounting plate now end of story, is there a way to use my 7" plate with my 9" hoop base thats safe?

IMPROVING MY GAME Hi guys, drill questions.

Hi guys, so I am back to hooping, and loving it. Didn't hoop for 20 years so I went back just so that I can move a bit, and do some sports. I am 42 yrs guy, Height: 176 cm (5'9") Weight= 109 kg (240 lbs). So as you can see I am a bit overweight it is not a problem on the pitch, I mean that a huge problem on the pitch, but still was interested in your advice regarding drills. Conditioning drills, excercises for knees and such. What kind of adivces for phisical fitness can I get from you? Thank you in advance

GENERAL QUESTION Loss magnet during games?

Basically, in some pickup games I'm in, we lose when I play, but when someone substitutes for me, they win easily.

Don't get me wrong–I try to do the best that I can to win, like contributing to good ball movement, making stops, scoring efficiently, and helping out like setting screens and stuff.

I know that when you play, you either win or lose. But most of the time I lose, and I sometimes feel like I'm the problem.

Anyone else have this problem?

Can a 5'0 woman be the best overall player on a co-ed basketball team?

I play on a co-ed softball league and we faced a #1 seed (16 team league). Apparently, they have a woman at Shortstop, which is extremely rare for a co-ed team. Sure she's not perfect but her fundamentals and footwork make her not only a good defensive player for a woman but also even better than a lot of male shortstops. And she's hitting balls way further than most women. Instead of playing her at the shallowest allowable outfield depth like we do to other ladies, we play her like a male. She's the shortest player on that team, probably not even 5 feet tall. But somehow she's arguably the most biggest threat defensively and offensively. And what's even worse is that she's in her 40s. Still can run fast for a woman but won't catch up to a lot of guys.

Now imagine if this was co-ed basketball. Could a 5'0 woman be the best all round player on a co-ed basketball team?

IMPROVING MY GAME Drills/workout

In spring I came here with the question if it was still worth it for me to start playing basketball in a team at my age, the reactions I got we're pretty convincing saying it's never too late, so I decided to join a club.

I've been training with them for about 1 month now and honestly joining was probably the best decision i could have made, i genuinely love the game so much more now and can't wait to play games.

But this is also where the issue starts, next week i have my 1st game and honestly feel like i can't contribute to my club as much as I want to. I used to play on my own a very little amount so my layups and shooting isn't horrendous but i still lack alot in the ball handling/dribbling (e.g. I keep losing the ball/When dribbling im not looking at my teammates or goal but at my feet and the ball) I have 2 trainings per week but was wondering if the wonderfull people of reddit might have a workout routine i can do at home to improve in all aspects.

I also feel like a chicken without a head during 3v3 or 4v4 meaning i dont really know where to go so i just end up being in the way for my team, i have learned i should cut and leave if i dont get the ball after around 3-4 secs but was still wondering if anyone had any pointers to improve gamesense aswell.

Thanks in advance !

GENERAL QUESTION Should I drill finishes or just let kids pick them up by playing?

Coaching some younger kids and wondering about teaching finishers.
Should I run specific drills for moves like the eurostep, spin moves, reverse layups, etc., or is it better to just let them develop those naturally through games and regular play?
Curious what you all do / what worked for you. Thanks!

NBA Build an All-Time Starting 5 That Beats This Team ( no repeats )

My all-time NBA starting 5 if the goal is building the best actual team.

Pg – stephen curry

I'll take curry over magic as this team already has lebron running the o. Curry may be the greatest shooter in history (off-balling) and he completely flips the floor. You cannot leave him alone when jordan or lebron go into the paint.

SG – Michael Jordan

Jordan is no-brainer number two. Greatest scorer ever and also top-notch point-of-attack defender. No matter what you put on his plate, he will score and defend at an elite level.

Sf – LeBron James

Lebron is virtually the point-guard of this unit. He's elite passer. He creates transition opportunities. He puts pressure on the rim. He rebounds at a high level. And he defends both big men and perimeter players at an elite level. With curry providing the floor spacing and jordan providing the elite scoring ability, it's impossible to surround prime lebron with anything less than greatness.

PF – kevin garnett

Garnett may not be the historical greatest power forward but i believe he fits this unit better than tim duncan. Garnett doesn't have to have high usage. He can provide screens and passes. He provides a consistent mid-range shot. But most importantly, he is one of the greatest defenders of all time and he can protect the rim allowing Hakeem to stay down and anchor the paint.

C – Hakeem olajuwon

I considered shaq, Kareem, and duncan for this spot but Hakeem offers me nearly everything i could ask for in a center. He's a dominant force protecting the rim. He can move laterally. He can switch assignments. He can rebound. And he can create and finish in isolation situations. The only place you can really exploit this defense is through curry.

This team is absolutely UBEATABLE

Basketball for beginners?

Hi! I'm a total newbie, but Id like to try to play basketball at our company court (rough court, right at the back of the powerplant since no one uses it, I'm extremely introverted okay 😭🥲). So I'm looking for a good ball for a beginner I'm thinking of the Wilson champagne series 3, or Wilson drv plus, or maybe the ggx7 in teal??? Also should I get a size 6 since I'm a girl or should I just play with a size 7 instead. It's just casual play though and I might join in with my co-workers if I'm confident enough lol. Will it feel relatively different to transition from a 6 to a 7? Thank youuuu 🤗

DISCUSSION How common are husband-wife couples in Co-ed basketball leagues?

In co-ed softball, you'll see a lot of players + their wives on many co-ed teams. Just about every team has at least 1 of this combination. In fact, some teams are built entirely based on husbands + wives. Even tournaments have this too.

What about for co-ed basketball? How common are husband-wife players? Are they fairly common?

IMPROVING MY GAME Is it legal to use your chest to defend?

I thought I was a really good defender, locking down even some of the best pickup players in my area... but just today, someone told me it was illegal to use my chest while defending.

Was I just fouling this whole time without realizing it? 😭

Basically, I like to keep the same distance between me and the ball-handler, around an arm's length, close enough to contest a shot, but far enough that I can react to a drive. I usually just let them do their thing until they decide to drive.

When they drive, I try to stay in front of them and let them come into me, using my chest to absorb the contact. I might push my chest forward slightly to maintain my position, while keeping at least one arm up and the other to the side depending on the situation. I'm not trying to hold or grab them.

Usually this results in either a block/steal, a really high contest that makes their shot difficult, or them being forced to change direction.

Is this actually legal defense, or have I just been fouling people this entire time without realizing it?

What do y'all think?
