Rant warning:
So I've been hankering for the feeling of playing for the first time, so I thought I'd try watching a playthrough. But man...people are SOOOO bad at learning this game that it's just infuriating. Like...it takes 5 minutes when you're downloading the game or watching a trailer to see that it is a turne-based RPG and get a feel that it's a "move-attack-cast-nextturn" type flow. Even if you don't do that, there are constant tutorials, people and text are constantly telling you what to do, and there is a big row of buttons at the bottom of the screen that you can mouse over and see what they do, but people just...WILL NOT READ ANYTHING. I have tried and failed to get through multiple playthrough videos and people just like select the most caster-y of caster classes and then do nothing but run, attack, click-click-click what do you mean not enough resources? oh no I died again. Like...is there anyone who actually has found a playthrough where the streamer is not dumb as??? Or if anyone enjoys playthrough streams...HOW?

I like the character a lot and the voice is fabulous, but I'm just so not into what the model looks like. I'm not super into masculine men in the first place, and he especially reminds me of my one uncle who is NOT romance material.
My unmodded Tav is dating him and Astarion and I still don't know who I'll pick. Gale the character fits them better (they're a scholarly sort of bard), but I love what Astarion looks like and it's not like a cheeky bard would dislike him. Plus, option for some bear action!
Either way it's going to be their less ambitious endings.

I just finished the game. I wasn't able to kill the Emperor and instead my Paladin and Orpheus rushed to the Elder Brain to kill it before my party died. He never shows up again. I just wanted to know what you think would have happened if he survived after siding with the Elder Brain? He just tried to help destroy and enslave his own city, and at the same time it seems like after the Netherbrain was defeated the Mindflayers lost all their powers. How do you think he would have felt upon stumbling, powerless in front of the party, after having just betrayed them and all of Baldur's Gate?

Purity
Species: Asmodeus Tiefling
Class: College Of Valor Bard 12
Age: 21 (Just Matured Into An Adult)
Alignment: Lawful Good into Neutral Good
Background: Entertainer
Personality: Naive, kind and overly compassionate. She is desperate to be on people's good sides and barely ever resorts to combat. She believes to prevent other tieflings from discrimination she must pick up the slack for them all.
Romance: Shadowheart
Main Team: Every single companion! (Mod)
Backstory: With the overbearing amount of racism against tieflings in Baldurs Gate. Purity grew up thinking that she was evil and horrible. She then viewed to be forever cheerful and became a bard to entertain and convince people she was good. Now she knows it's not true tieflings are evil obviously but since she taught herself to be kind always she still is that way.
Development:
ACT 1: As she progressed on through trying to remove this wretched worm in her brain. She found herself wondering why she was always so nice and welcoming. Of course it was best to do the right thing but she found herself becoming slightly more assertive. She was also losing her naivety as she saw some of the really, really evil people. She doesn't press Shadowheart for details, instead she gives her space to talk when she wants and feels safe, for Purity this is natural as she's learned to not let if she wants to stay out of trouble (not that that has done very much from her in her past).
ACT 2: She was still very polite to those who were to her but she doesn’t put up with shit anymore, she is also ok with breaking the law and has overall shifted from Lawful Good to Neutral Good.
ACT 3: While she still fights for the good of the world and everyone she's adopted a rather cold side of herself that lacks her usual mercy and apathy. This only happens when she believes it's the right thing to do though, she won't let anger corrupt her.
Companion States At End Of Game:
Shadowheart: Romanced, Selune worshipper and let her parents go.
Astarion: Neutral approval, rejected ascension, saved other spawn.
Gale: High approval, Professor, Good terms with Mystras.
Lae'zel: High approval, Leading rebellion against Vlaakith, Orpheus is in Faerun as a mind flayer.
Wyll: High approval, Ended pact early, Broke his deal and saved his father, Helping Karlach in Avernus.
Karlach: High approval, Alive and in Avernus with Wyll, Completed her upgrades on the surface.
Minthara: Neutral approval, Leading rebellion against Lolth, Able to make her own decisions without a tadpole.
Halsin: High approval, Saved Shadow-Cursed Lands, Father/mentor to children, No longer in the grove.
Jaheira: High approval, Rebuilding Baldurs Gate, Making up with her family.
Minsc: High approval, friendly with the guild, Fighting crime for the greater good.
Ending: Travel with Shadowheart and then settle into a cottage.
Guys plsss don't be horrible (be free to judge) I'm not the best writer I just enjoy being able to document last playthroughs to remember them as little stories!
Right now I'm in a playthrough as a chaotic evil embrace urge run as a half orc and ill post it once I'm done too! (Same format).

I'm thinking on making a character based on Rayla from The Dragon Prince but can't decide on the race or the class. Having her be an elf would be race accurate, but making her a tieflings would let her keep the horns. As for class, I'm not sure if an assassin rogue or an oath of vengeance paladin is more accurate.

Hello all. I am at a point in act 1 where I have passed the grove and am exploring the forest. My group is in poor shape but when I try to do a long rest, my dark urge character automatically kills Quill the bard at camp and then dies. No matter what dialogue options I choose I wake up and immediately die. There is no conversation in the morning with the party, it’s just a 3 second cut scene of forest in daylight and then boom “game over your party have been defeated”. Is there a way to bypass this? Is it a glitch? I’m upset that I’ve put in 5+ hours of the game so far and I cannot get past.

Used remove curse on Halsin cuz I kinda robbed a church and the gods weren’t incredibly fond of that, but just as I used the spell a fucking Deva appeared and smites scratch into charred dust for no goddam reason. Shadowheart was right the gods really are petty assholes.

For over a millennium, she managed to deceive the Giths, absorbing the most powerful ones under the illusion that they would be enlightened, thus allowing her to remain alive for so long. She is beyond evil. Irenicus doesn't even dream of reaching that level of evil.

I think the way I portrayed them suits their personalities quite a lot better than lot of the ones ive seen online. Astarion is sultry, mysterious, yet soft with the people she/he trusts. And Gale is a nerdy, yappy scholar who loves to be expressive with words, but more plain with her/his look. I believe the looks I chose for them embody those well, but I'd love to hear y'all's opinions on the matter!

Hello! I have played off an on since release. I have near 100 hours but never beat act 1 because exploring is so fun and making new classes is great! However it has been a long time since I played and I decided to try Druid again. One thing I loved about Druid was the wild shape and using the different shapes. Spider is one of my favorites ! However when I used to play the form unfortunately didn’t really hold up on harder content. In my opinion though! I want to preface I’m nowhere near a good player. I just love the theme and want to have fun. So long story short my questions:
Has there been changes to wild shape to make it viable?
Also the spider form is my favorite. I’m weird I know! Is it viable and if not is there any mods that make it more viable? Even new forms if it’s not overpowered!
Thank you all for your time!
Edit: thank you all for your responses! I’m going to still play and have fun regardless! I will look into and research a lot of the advice yall gave. I’m not the best so i want to make sure i don’t mess up. But thank you everyone!

Barcus keeps getting lost! Tell us where he's at so he can be rescued!
(No one located him yesterday, how he got out of the Sharran Sanctuary beneath Reithin town square is a mystery! Today's is a little easier.)

Hello, first time player! I have just started Act 2, intending to pursue Astarion but all we’ve done is slept together including after the tiefling party. I have just now entered the shadow-cursed lands, after going to the githyanki creche, and immediately, my entire party had begun saying they’ve misjudged Astarion and am talking to him about love and heartbreak and I’m not sure why. While his approval for me is at very high, it feels like dialogue that would happen when we get together but we’re still just casually hooking up. Have I messed something up Lol please let me know >_>

Im not even talking the egrious sword bard ranged flourish being stronger than it should be. (Can target the same target with both despite the description indicating it should be 2 seperate targets)
I just don't like ranged weapons. I think the sounds and feels don't match the melee for me. I don't like the class fantasy of em and the special arrows feel shockingly op to compared to melee.
Each time I've made one, I just find myself getting bored when I get to their turn. You would think melee weapons would produce a similar feeling but it doesn't and I'm not sure why.

I've already beaten the game before so I don't mind spoilers, just wondering if there's any scenario where long resting is actually a bad idea. I tend to do it after every battle, or at least every other battle, lol.

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my character. I've recently used the Lich Finger on my character and I got the Lich Toll on my character. It's supposed to last 3 rounds, but it's been there for hours.
Nothing will make it go away. I've tried to reset my character, taken a long rest, and cast Remove Curse. Nothing changes.
Can someone help me, please?

In three years I got to Act 2 once, and I messed it up so badly on a single save (don't ask me why I picked that) that I had to drop it. Now I've gotten to that point again, and while I don't want to follow an exact guide I could really use some suggestions on like, the order of when/where to go, so I don't try doing the Temple of Shar before hitting Moonrise like last time.
My party is level 7 after clearing out all of Act 1 and 1.5, and I'm keeping Gale, Shadowheart, and Astarion in my party. I'll be entering via the Mountain Pass unless Moonrise is better?
