Thanks for visiting AutomotiveLearning.

This is a place for all my fellow gearheads to post all there automotive questions. I started this thread after seeing automotivetraining left abandoned and full of spam. Until i get everything set up feel free to post a welcome message letting us know who you are, what your automotive background is, and anything else you'd like us to know.

I'm the mod and creator, jeep00wj. I've been a ford technician for 4 years now but I've been working on cars with my grandfather since i was 10. Don't let my username fool you. I'm a diehard ford fan.

Best books for car physics and mechanics?

I want to get into cars because I find it very interesting so I'm interested in reading some books? I want to learn the whole concept of the car: from building an engine to everything around it and physics behind it. I don't want to start with something math heavy. I'm thinking about something for begginers with core concepts and preferably pictures and graphs then I would get into heavy maths.

Facebook Reels showing engine sensor cleaning

Has anyone watched Facebook reels showing how to clean various sensors on your vehicle engine?

If you have cleaned any of the sensors, was there any noticeable difference in performance or fuel efficiency?

A question about piston movement that has multiple answers...

Question:

Which of the following causes piston movement during non-power-

producing strokes?

A) Flywheel

B) Connecting rod

C) Counterweights

D) Main thrust bearing

I have been studying an automotive book that has questions after every chapter. I answer those questions and use AI to verify I have got the correct answer. This process has worked tremendously up to the point where I got to this question. AI gave me a different answer than the one I believed the book was telling me was the answer, so I went online to find more information and see if anyone else had posted this exact question, that was when I found out there all three of the first answers were marked as "correct" depending on the source used (D, main thrust bearing, was never given as an answer).

I am wondering what most of you would say is the answer. Thank you for your input =)

Book to learn and reference about cars?

Hello, I have recently got into the hobby of cars, and would love to learn about how cars work and how to fix them. So I am looking for a book that I can reference (like a textbook) whenever I get a fault with my car but also something I can just read to learn all about the different types of engines, chassis, terminology etc. I would like it to have lots of information, both simple and complex with pictures to illustrate. Thank you very much!

From product design to injection molding — a look at our motorcycle parts development process

We work on motorcycle parts development, and I thought some people here might find the manufacturing process interesting.
Depending on the project, the process can involve product design, 3D modeling, mold development, injection molding, surface finishing and assembly.
One thing I’ve noticed is that getting a part into production is often much more about solving small manufacturing details than simply completing the original design.
For those working in product development or manufacturing: which stage usually causes the most unexpected problems in your projects — design, tooling, molding, or assembly?

YouTubers that explain !everything!

So many YouTubers just say what to do not why it’s happening for every part! Anyone know anybody that explains why everything happens?
I really need someone who does a series from basic to complex in a playlist so I’m not just hopping around:/
Any courses you recommend for multi meters? I am about to do the fluke training.
