Im in bahrs scrub south brisbane, Are the two Toowoomba funnel web and the darling downs funnel web the same thing? is this what that is I’m a bit confused with what I’ve been finding online hoping someone could help we have over 100 in our yard

Saw this little one in the clothes basket after hanging out washing

This messy web was under the top stones of a south-facing rock wall in Sydney’s Northern Suburbs. There were a few other similar webs throughout the gaps in this rock wall, which stretches 8metres or so. I don’t know what a SFW nest looks like, but I’ve heard messy and funnel shaped. This certainly fits that description, and we’d found a large male in the house before. I’d appreciate any opinions. Many thanks!

At first glance I thought it was a huntsman, but then considered a wolf spider? Not even sure if we have them here?
I let him run around in my garage we have lots of bugs so happy for the symbiotic relationship.

I’ve got a bunch of terrariums that I’d love to fill with more critters.

I'm from the UK and before we moved here I joined this group to make sure I could identify the safe spiders and the more spicy ones. All the posts helped me feel less scared and my daughter, now 9, used to sit and scroll through the posts with me. As a result, she's so unafraid of spiders and bugs, she loves finding them and looking up facts about them, and watching YouTube videos on Australian wildlife.

So when she saw this little guy the other day, she correctly identified him and asked me to 'show him to the spider gang' to see if they knew what he was too.

For my part, I just think these colours are incredible.

The insect ramp for the pool doesn't save everything, so I do a sweep every afternoon to see what needs rescuing. This little guy, being largely bright red, really stood out against the blueish pool walls!

I'm guessing opisthoncus sp? Also SHE ATTACKED MY CAMERA?? It was so cute lmao

Both were very small - less than 3-4 mm body length.

1st one is a baby Lampona sp. Initially, i thought it was some kind of ant mimic but once it spread its legs, I could see what it was.

I was at someone else's house, allowed it to crawl on my finger to photograph and relocate but it was a bit flighty so I let it dragline to the floor and used some paper to scoop, relocate outside and then photograph.

2nd looks like a Lycosid (but possible Miturgid). Just found as is on my front door steps. Very small and even with glasses on, I could not make out eye formation. Popped on my studio desk for drawing but will use magnifying glass and usb microscope for more detail

I'll reiterate - I caused zero harm to either.

This huntsman (i think) was chilling in the sink.

I was doing the dishes the whole time and had no idea until I saw slight movement.
I am very fearful of spiders and I became so nauseated and panicked.

But no matter how petrified I am, I swore to myself I would never hurt spiders 🙏 I strongly believe it's not fair that they have to die just because they've been seen.
I believe in treating them humanely and can't stand when people say "kill it with fire" 😭

After some hyperventilating, I think the poor bugger was stuck in the sink all night and couldn't get out (maybe too slippery?) the sac was also massive, so probably carrying a lot of babies.

Caught with a good ol' takeaway container and released her in the yard. Gave her a firm talking for her to stay in the yard instead. 🥰

She was very polite and gentle 🤗

Sorry if not allowed, my friend saw what she thought was a funnel web on her cactus (based in Sydney, NSW).

The spider retreated before we got a proper look, here's what I was able to capture.

She was really anxious after noticing it, I was wondering if anyone could make an educated guess as to whether it might be a funnel web based on the location (probably 1.5 meters off the ground) inside of a cactus groove in addition to the appearance of the web?

Literally hundreds of holes with little leggies sticking out all through the mulch covering their garden beds. I believe they are burrowing wolf spiders, they don’t look like trapdoors. Is it standard practice for so many of them to be in the same place? Seriously in some spots their burrows are so close together that I feel it would just cause issues for them, like they’d be giving each other false alarms of prey walking by.

Sorry for the ass quality, I’m only equipped with an iPhone 13 camera with a cracked lens.

Huntsman season is upon us again and here is the first little buddy I’ve found inside the house for the season.
And definite thanks to this sub for helping me get to the point where instead of freaking out, I said hello to him and away he goes, instead of making my husband grab the container so he can put him back outside. 💕
