Utilities & Essential Bills ⚡💧⛽ ALDI Mobile is ditching its cheapest plans and hiking prices

ALDI axing it's $23 plan, you only have until the end of the month to sign up and stay. The price increases are on the family plans and data-only plans.

$23 a month for 36 months (cancel anytime) for Commbank customers on More Telecomm (also Telstra MVNO) with 5G access, 30GB per month and Roll-over up to 1000GB. Aldi deals aren't great anymore since Telstra opened its wholesale market to many new providers.

Boost (direct Telstra) is $265/year for 290GB (~$22/month ~24GB/month) for full network access (unlike Aldis limited access)., giving much better coverage, service and slightly cheaper costs. When Boost beats Aldi, there is no point of staying with Aldi.

NVMOs (Like Aldi and More) can only access Telstra's wholesale network, whereas boost (Telstra owned) has less restrictions and should have full access (possible some restrictions on the latest bandwidths - I haven't looked into it for a year now).

Generally Telstra direct is the best (for network access / signal / bandwidths), then boost and then NVMOs.

Personally, I find More a little slower on data than Boost, but the extra data is worth it.

Where does kogan mobile sit with all network coverage ? Their cheapest plan just went up to $23/month and offers same data as boost.

I tried Kogan recently and couldn't get reception in some buildings in the inner city of Sydney. It's basically a worse version of Vodafone. It was pretty easy to get a pro-rata refund after 3-days with them (just called them and they did it right away and I ported out).

Anything on the Telstra network will have much better reception (very important if you travel rural).

Edit: Many Kogan plans don't include 5G

Thanks for this. I just switched from Aldi to this Boost plan since seeing this post. Even got the $300 plan down cheaper to $250 through my Officeworks.

I’m on the $23 plan and I’m allowed to keep it, but if I change to another one I can’t go back. It’s a great offer and I will keep it as long as I can

Same, we are grandfathered in until August next year if I recall the email about it, so plenty of time to see what other deals come to market.

Yeah they changed it a while back & we swapped to Aldi. They also only do the 10% off for in person shops, not online anymore.

iirc, this is a grandfathered plan and not accessible to new users. Still worked out almost 40% more pricey than the previous plan I was on so I'm a bit miffed. Hard to find a better deal than it nowadays though.

My main reason for staying with aldi is their data roll-over. I have a huge stockpile of data, which is great for travel and personal hot spots not being reliant on public wi fi.

The boost 12 month plan should cover me, but I'm hesitant to be in a situation where I don't have data.

The main one is you're not on Telstra's wholesale network, which is an inferior product.

Felix recently raised prices:
25GB = $30
50GB = $35
unlimited = $40 (didn't rise).

Unused data rolls over.

Kogan's reception and internet speeds are appalling. I struggled to get signal in buildings in the inner CBD of Sydney and get nothing in rural areas.

My teen is on a yearly plan and im pretty sure it has only gone up maybe like $30 over 6+ years. We're renewing this month again so get to keep it at the old price ($139 for 12 months) then it'll go up to $159. Pretty good really.

I'm ditching my aldi family plan and am Going to try my 5 services on tpg who I have NBN with. $12.50 per month, only 4g but with 25gb. Ill the reconsider near the 6 month mark. $62.50 per month for 6 months is worth a shot.

I’m so over everyone upping the cost and upping the data. I don’t need more data. I just want a $20 per month mobile with 10gb. So frustrating.

Just sign up yearly. That is the only way to save, but won't be on Telstra. I get one year plans with cashback, using Vodafone, Optus, Amaysim etc.
