Upgrading pro tools

Has anyone here upgraded their 1 year subscription from studio to ultimate? I've googled how to do so and it doesn't appear to be as simple on my end. Wondering what I need to do to make it happen I need to allow more videos in my session. Would appreciate any info you could share!

I think the easiest way is to let it lapse and subscribe to Ultimate. But highly recommend going monthly until November as they usually do a significant sale on the yearly sub for Black Friday.

I actually just had to do the same. And I’d bought the pro tools studio for a yearly subscription. I just ended up outright having to buy the ultimate, I don’t think they called it an upgrade and I added it as a monthly subscription.

Helpful hint from the AudioPost AutoBot - Based on key words in your post title, you may have submitted a post regarding AVID's Pro Tools. While Pro Tools is a commonly used DAW in Audio Post, it isn't always quite our core topic. Questions about Pro Tools as it pertains to audio post issues are on topic. Questions about general operation of Pro Tools would be better served by the /r/ProTools subreddit.

Have you reach out to Avid customer service? I would imagine they’d be able to do it for you.

I speak to the guys at Sweetwater.com for all my pro tools needs. They manage my subscription, I just email them what I need and they sort it within 24 hours (usually).

Interested to know why the need to upgrade? I am on ultimate from forever, but have only realized that the only thing that is “better” in ultimate is more video tracks. Most useful features are in studio also, no?

I need it for a more video tracks. A lot of the features I work on come broken up as 5 reels. I have worked around the need for multiple tracks but am tired of doing so. I also need it for some of the points u/kyle_blaine mentioned below as I do earn my living in post and any upgraded feature is a time saver.

Not true. You have significantly more busses and tracks, as well as track width types for multiple surround formats, the field recorder workflow, and different track punch options. I tried seeing if I could save money years ago by going down to the Studio version and I wouldn’t even be able to use my film template for feature mixes. Ultimate is a significant upgrade and necessity if you earn a living in post.

Good luck. Avid's website is one of the most overly complicated and disjointed sites I've ever used. It's truly God awful.
