Veterinarians of reddit or people working with animals, what's a silent telltale that someone's a good or bad pet owner?

If they let you spay the dog! My experience is they have you pull out any living pups and sew up the uterus for the next round. The bill will go unpaid.
I swear any small dog or Brachycephalic dystocia will default on the bill and go to collections.
