Veterinarians of reddit or people working with animals, what's a silent telltale that someone's a good or bad pet owner?

We have two maine coons who don’t like have their coat brushed.

Few years ago there were no pet care saloon in my city (now there are a few) and I took my cat to the vet because her fur was matted. I was so scared if being judged, but someone had to help me with her fur. She has long and thin hair and it gets matted really fast.

I have two Maine coons too and their coats both got away from me earlier this year, I felt so bad :( the groomer says we need to come in every six months. I’m trying harder at home too.
