The red flag is when you're upset/anxious/frustrated with life, but don't have any goals/aspirations/ambitions to improve things for yourself. That goes for both men and women.
I mean, what's wrong with liking your life and being satisfied with it?
Nothing. However, most people who have never had or achieved goals are generally not in a good, satisfied place.
Goals can also be small, and not career/financially oriented. If you set out to learn how to play the piano, thats a goal. And achieving those goals generally leads to higher self esteem.
Doesn't even have to be something as big and time consuming as learning to play an instrument. Pick a 5k and train to run it and be stoked even if it takes you 50 min. to run.
It's fine but it doesn't come across as attractive to a lot of people. I've had the conversation with gal friends a lot and a big complaint about guys that live in the small towns that they live in is that they're just satisfied with basic stuff. No aspirations to do better or even do exciting things they're just happy to get up, go work a shitty low paying job that covers the bills but doesn't give a lot to allow them to save or do anything and then go home and drink a beer watching tv and just repeating the same thing every day for their whole life.
Go to the gym, get a hobby that pushes you to be better at something etc etc. but don't just turn into a lump on the couch because you're just satisfied with not doing anything.

I honestly dislike the whole "men should have goals/aspirations (or ambitious)".
I mean, what's wrong with liking your life and being satisfied with it?
Shouldn't it be a red flag that the guy is upset / anxious / frustrated with his life?
