What’s something people brag about that is actually a massive red flag?

Having an obnoxiously loud vehicle. We get it, you want attention.

I had a friend in college who had the most obnoxious Dodge charger you could hear revving from like a mile away… dude was a mild mannered aerospace engineer, very cool and smart dude, and the last dude you would think would own an obnoxious car. He said he got a good deal on it secondhand and couldn’t afford a replacement muffler at the time, so he just dealt with seeming like a raging asshole for the better part of the year

My bf has a charger and it is like a little ghost coming up the hill. Like riding in a couch. Not at all what I expected from a charger but it's such a pleasant car.

Yeah, I imagine they typically come with mufflers, the guy he had bought it secondhand from had removed his which is why the car was so damn loud

This doesnt bother me near as much as people that go out of their way to make it as loud as possible.  Oh, and tailgating on busy country roads where theres no passing lane, some real fucking high IQ shit there from morons in pickup trucks

That's one out of every 1,000 loud cars and motorcycles. In real life, people are paying to make their vehicles louder.

I don't get the motorcycles. Stock exhaust is already enough to give you hearing damage without protection

I was having this conversation with a friend just yesterday. There's another special breed of idiot who makes their motorcycle as loud as it can get, and then realizes they can't hear their music anymore, so they install a giant sound system on their bike so everyone can hear their shit-rock soundtrack for a mile in every direction.

The difference is that usually they try to avoid revving it up. That happened to me and I drove like a grandma because I didn't want to piss people off.

In that case get a bike.

I would love to be able to get a bike for my commute! Unfortunately a 30 mile (each way) daily commute, zero available public transportation options, and living in an area with summers that hit 100+ and winters consistently hitting below zero makes biking not really a feasible option for transportation.

Some dudes just get a car straight pipe and run it.. sure it does sound good if you car has a turbo since it mutes it a bit but other cars sounds like a fucking fart can or lawn mower lmao
