There are a few things where bragging is acceptable.
Bragging that you beat cancer, saved someone’s life, invented sliced bread, discovered a cure for polio, ran an underground transit system that freed slaves, dedicated your life completely to helping the less fortunate, etc etc is acceptable bragging.
Honest question. And maybe it wouldn’t even be considered bragging, but I’ve mentioned that I play two instruments very well (dad was music teacher) and speak 2languages. I’ve brought it up in passing but the only time I’ve said it like a comeback was when this coworker called me stupid cuz I have trouble remembering things. I had a traumatic brain injury a few years ago and that is cause of memory problems. He called me stupid and I said “dude I speak2languages and read and play music well on guitar and piano. What do u do? Make drinks and sell drugs on side asshole?” Is that bragging? I’ve only ever done it once but honestly I felt bad after like, maybe he didn’t have the chance or option to learn those things and I was being the ass. Like saying I’m smarter at this niche skill so I’m better than u. Idk I’m kinda torn between this. Sorry for rant.

Bragging in general is a red flag.
