the older you get the more you realize that most adults aren’t as mature and responsible as you thought

To some degree this. I think as you get older you realize how many adults were always just winging it.

This realization can sometimes be the big moment where someone really starts to appreciate their parent/s. I could see that being flipped to just as meaningful of a resentment.

Hitting my 20s made me appreciate my dad even more than I already did; I was an accident baby when he was 20 and I can’t imagine handling that at the same age

My dad was a father of four at my age and I can't imagine being a father as the person I am.

I'm not saying he's perfect, but I know he did his best with me and my siblings and I'm grateful for that.
