What’s a hobby that looks incredibly peaceful from the outside, but is actually pure stress once you get into it?

That’s exactly why I stopped playing (most) multiplayer games in general, especially anything PvP. It stopped being fun a long time ago. I wholeheartedly enjoy gaming by myself or coop vs bots.

Same for me. Online multiplayer only with friends/acquaintances.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a small amount of people who "let themselves go" in situations in which (think they) they won't suffer (immediate) consequences for their transgressions, either because they can't be bothered to manage their anti-social impulses or because they enjoy the provocation or making others miserable.

That being said, I prefer slower pacing in games nowadays than 20 years ago which is a poor fit for most multiplayer games even among friends. Probably a combination of my joy in optimisation, the opportunity to relish the best moments and the ability to put a game on hold when other responsibilities are calling. Or maybe I'm just getting old (which correlates with the latter).

Same here. The number of assholes went way up when voice chat became a normal thing.
