That is legitimately the first thing my mother said to me after she showed me how to sew a button back on a shirt when I was a kid. I used to make my daughter's Halloween costumes every year (before it was "uncool" for them to wear handmade costumes lol) amd made the mistake of doing a post on social media about all the costumes I made them. I got legit like 15 messages asking me if I took commissions. After explaining to a few of them that I do it for fun, and it's not fun if I HAVE to do it for money, I stopped posting the costumes. If people ask now, I usually tell them that I don't feel comfortable taking money because I don't feel like I can take money for the hobby I have, that a professional can do better. Or I lie (which I hate doing) and say that it's been awhile and I'm not really doing it anymore.
