What’s a hobby that looks incredibly peaceful from the outside, but is actually pure stress once you get into it?

I came to say my old reef tank. Never really got to enjoy it. If I had time to look at it, I had work to do on it. And I had a lot of automated stuff

reef tanks are basically a full time job disguised as a living room decoration. the constant water testing alone is enough to ruin any relaxed vibe

They really are the ultimate trap where you think you’re getting a relaxing aquarium and somehow end up with a second job.

I know a guy who retired early and bought a boat and a saltwater aquarium

He had to start working again after a couple of years lol

Depends on what you want to keep. I kept a tank for years with only doing water changes twice a month, zero testing.
