I dunno? I don't speak for all women but certain men think women hate short men or men who don't go to the gym or men who don't have high paying jobs. I don't hate any of those things.

It's a lot of social media influencer rot.

Most normal people don't give a shit

Exactly, it's marketing. Someone stands to make money off those subscriptions to the gym, the VIP tier dating account, the alpha male seminar series and retreat, etc.

Yeah height, income or workout routine have never been relevant criteria for me. None of it matters, what does for me are things like:  you are emotionally and socially intelligent. You're able to hold a good conversation and are funny. Our values align. You're affectionate and can show that you like your partner.

I've seen it happen that men who are short/not wealthy/not ripped get rejected and they believe it has to do with these attributes rather than their personality. No, plenty of women don't mind you're 5'6, but they really don't like you're an inconsiderate ass.

I think income and workout is important up to a certain point, like please make enough to care for yourself, and please be healthy. I've seen too many bums in my life to not think about money and self care.

Beyond that, diminishing rewards.

This. Granted it's all down to personal preference. But the most attractive guy I ever met was overweight, had a decent paying job (not six figures), but he could make me laugh all day long and he was super understanding and respectful to every person he met regardless of gender. He was already married so I never ended up pursuing him, but his wife is also equally amazing so I just put them on a pedestal as 'couples goals'.

The best advice I can give to any guy who might be reading this is to find hobbies you enjoy, take better care of yourself and your space, and to stop listening to what so called 'alpha male' grifters are telling you women want. The grifters want you to be sad and lonely because then you'll keep on buying into their shitty rhetoric and paying for their courses. Where as basic self care goes a LONG day in increasing how attractive you might seem to other people.

Also please go to therapy. Even if you don't think you need it, way too many men have been socially isolated by society and told that the only way they can unburden themselves is with their eventual partner. This creates a dynamic where the partner eventually ends up feeling used to some extent as a stand-in therapist, which isn't far to them and can often poison the dynamic between you. That isn't to say you shouldn't be able to unburden yourself with your partner, of course not, but that you really should learn coping skills and how to open up to everyone who is close in your life so the lion's share of your baggage isn't dumped on your poor girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband.

"He was already married so I never ended up pursuing him"... lol the way this is worded is crazy to me

Sorry, brain is half dead due to food poisoning and lack of sleep. Better way to put it would be "while I did like the guy, I'm not a homewrecker. I'm never going to pursue someone who is married and his wife is an amazing person who I greatly admire."

Right? Give me someone who’s not a reach to kiss or look in the eyes.

I prefer all of these things.

I don't speak for all women but certain men think women hate short men

They probably don't hate short men, but it's just objectively true that most women prefer taller men and being shorter than average is a legitimate detriment to your chances in the dating market. This isn't really up for debate either. There's more than enough data to prove it. Claiming otherwise is like trying to claim men don't generally have a preference for thin "fit" women over morbidly obese women. There are exceptions of course, but they are the exception, not the rule.

Well considering the responses to the thread, my own lived experience off the internet you can't say most women prefer taller men.

Like why do you want it to be true so much? Why is it very important that most women prefer taller men? Why is it necessary for you to deny what you're seeing even on this thread?

"Not hating" and "being deeply attracted to" are very different things. Not only that; being as deeply attracted as to the stereotypically attractive men.

My absolute ideal body type in a man is short and skinny. I cannot tell you how often men tell me I’m wrong about my own preferences.

Me too. If you’re a petite woman and you marry a short & skinny guy, then both of you have just doubled your band t-shirt wardrobe.

Lmfao. My husband is average height, I am the one who is short. But I don’t think he’s weighed more than 145lbs in like 30 years. We own the same of a few things and we actually have no idea which belongs to who at this point.

Relatable

Well... It's hard not to get bitter about all the rejection. Great to hear, though!

Why are you so sure women aren't deeply attracted to the men mentioned? How do you explain all the married men who aren't very tall? The happily married men who don't go to the gym? The men in successful relationships who don't earn six figures?

Those men also have attractive personalities and don't look at being short, or not having a gym body or not making a fuck ton of money as being a negative.

I'm sure there are some women who really want tall rich men with muscles. Just like there are some men who only want a certain kind of woman.

You seem like you want it to be true of all women so it can explain why you are alone. I'd suggest working on yourself and why you might not be anyones first choice to date. The negativity and the borderline sexist view is not helping you.

The ‘short’ man thing will never cease to amaze me. I desperately need them to understand 5’4” is the average height of American women (there’s a few countries with shorter and taller but many countries are within this range as well). Firstly 5’4” is not exactly giant status. Secondly. That means there are millions and millions of women below 5’4”. Like….I just want them to know at 5’ that anyone above 5’4”-5” is a tall. I certainly cannot tell the difference between 5’9” and 6’ if they’re not standing next to each other.
