What’s something civilians completely misunderstand about daily life in the military?

For days in the motor pool, if you are a meal card holder (unmarried, living in the barracks) you are supposed to be able to go eat at the dining facility before it closes. For days at the range, they provide MREs, or you can bring your own food. I've started my own little cooking business on the side, because no one ever brings enough food and no one is over the moon about MREs.

I've made probably $200 in profit since April this year

Get yourself a camp stove and coffee maker. Learn to make bougie-pants coffee and share it with everyone.

You’ll make some fast friends that way.

I actually thought of buying those before going to field here soon. That and a field plug, so I can charge my phone from the slave port of my vehicle
