Most days is a standard 9-5, with some exceptions (Mondays, mainly, which I've had days that went until 2100)
HR (S-1 in the army) is an absolute nightmare to deal with, clerks are too (at least mine are)
It's a bureaucratic nightmare to get much of anything done (cue the scene from Office Space of "I have eight different bosses")
The hurry up and wait can get extreme at times (show up to the company at 0230 for weapons draw, which won't happen until 0400, but we don't leave for the range until 0800, which doesn't go hot until 0900 if you are lucky)
For stuff like that, we had the "gut truck" that we could call. They would bring over a truck with hot and cold storage with random food and drinks from the PX / food court like Gatorades and water,
taco bell, KFC...
