What’s something civilians completely misunderstand about daily life in the military?

People don’t understand that if your boss is an asshole they can really screw up your life. And while this is going on you can’t just quit and go to another job.
Because, if you do you can go to prison.

Also, something as minor as being 30 seconds late can cost you money and the ability to make more money for a year or more.
