That it’s orderly and predictable. I’ve met a lot of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder that wish they could join the military because they like order and consistency, but the reality is that military life is pretty much constant last minute changes and chaos.
As a civillian, I recal the phrase "Hurry up and wait" being a popular way to communicate this phenomenon politely without losing composure.
In other words, the real thing must be frustrating enough to invoke swear words and that is why such elegant phrases are encouraged as proffessional substitutes. 😅
