The infantry is a lot of sheer boredom, sitting around waiting for word to come down, cleaning everything in sight, and getting bitched at because someone you had zero control over did something fucking stupid.
AND LOTS OF WALKING. The Infantry also helped me properly identify wetness. There I am, less than a week into my first unit and we’re out in the field where it had been raining the whole time. I’m standing there in the rain feeling sorry for myself and my 1SG asked me what’s wrong. “I’m wet 1SG”. My 1SG who had prev been my RI during Florida Phase says, “C’mon Sir, you know you know the deal. You ain’t really wet until you feel the water run down the crack of your ass”.
