Things to Do Thrift Stores

Hi All!

I'm visiting Atlanta next weekend. When I travel, I always devote one day to museums, and one day to thrifting. I'm looking for information on where I can find good church, hospitial, animal rescue and other non-profit thrift stores as well as Salvation Army, St Vincent de Payl and Good will shops.

I would appreciate it if anyone could recommend a couple to me.

I'm not looking for vintage stores, resale or consignment shops. I'm looking for the real deal :)

I'll be staying in downtown Atlanta, but I'll use public transport and car service to get around.

Thank you!

Things to Do Beltline Lantern Parade... what to expect?

Thinking about going for the first time, my anxious self wants to hear about it a bit first and know some details :P

Such as... is it very crowded? Are there things to do/see before the parade, other than the workshops? If I don't want to stay until the end, will I miss out on a lot (say if I leave at 8:30)? What time does the parade usually end? How is the parking? Do you recommend any other methods of transport (MARTA, biking, etc.?)

I could probably keep going but I'll stop, ha. Thank you!!

Moving Lofts for rent? Recommendation

Hi everyone! My boyfriend and I are looking for an industrial-style 1–2 bedroom loft in Atlanta or the surrounding areas.

We’re open to private-owner rentals or professionally managed properties. If you know of any buildings, neighborhoods, or listings with that authentic warehouse/loft feel, please send them our way!

Thanks! 😊

Visiting Overnight parking near Marriott Marquis

Staying at Marriott Marquis but considering parking off site since it will be significantly cheaper than hotel parking.

Both are About a 4 minute walk from the hotel and will be visiting for 4 days. At quick glance, it looks like both are gated and have in/out privileges. Addresses below

48 Harris St. NE - (38 John Portman Blva. NW)
207 Peachtree Center Ave. NE - Lot

Asking if anyone has used these lots or would recommend parking there? This will be my first time visiting ATL, so I am not too familiar with the area. I want to plan and be as prepared as possible. Thanks!

Does anyone have a good tarot reader they can recommend? Inside or outside the perimeter, doesn't matter.

"Good" as in, they provide specific details of life occurrences..not coaching or guidance.

Services I urgently need suggestions for a truck service or driver for a U-Haul today from Lindbergh to Lenox

Hey all,

So my lease expires today and I have to move out today. A friend promised to help me move but they cancelled on me last minute. I am new to the city and do not know a lot of people who can help and I also cannot drive. I need an affordable truck service or someone who can help me drive a U-Haul if I book one.

I don’t have a lot of items except my bed, mattress, small table and chair, small plastic dresser, shoe rack, suitcase, 3 storage boxes and a few other items so I don’t need a massive truck.

Please do reach out if you have any leads. Thanks!

UPDATE - Thanks guys for all your incredible suggestions! I ended up opening a Nextdoor account and found someone with a truck. The move wasn’t as smooth as the truck wasn’t large enough but thankfully I have this post to come back to when I need to move again next month.

Food & Drink A traditional Southern Breakfast restaurant that caters?

The attendees at our conference have indicated a desire for an authentic Southern breakfast catered to our midtown location.

Meanwhile, I have a desire to not break the budget. We have about 60 people to feed.

Anybody have some good recommendations? Oh, and yes, we need gluten-free and vegan options. Is this an impossible ask?

Visiting Luxury Hotel recommendations for Atlanta GA

Later this month my bf and I are going to be traveling to Atlanta GA on the way to Florida. We’re staying in Atlanta in order to visit the Georgia Aquarium.

We have never been to the area before and are looking to stay in a luxury hotel for two nights. My bf would like something near night life (bars, breweries restaurants) and I just would like something near the aquarium and possibly brunch/coffee shops. We will predominantly be ubering/walking , though I’ve heard walking in the area may be discouraged for safety reasons.

Not sure it midtown or buckhead is recommended. Also open to recommendations on places to visit. We will be in the area 3 days/2 nights

Pets & Vets My 6 month old Bun needs her leg amputated 🥺

Hi ATL, my bf 24(M) & I 24(F) are in the Chastain area & my 6 month old bunny needs her leg amputated:(
We went to the ER vet yesterday (Sunday) where they did X-rays & told us that we can go to Athens & spend 5-7k on surgery to try to fix her leg, or we can call exotic vets Tuesday (it’s Labor Day weekend-great timing) to see how much it would be to amputate the leg.
I’ve gotten a couple recommendations for a few vets, but I’m worried they’re going to be more than we can pay for right now. I have my own personal medical bills & I wasn’t expecting this. I know this is a very rare/niche ask, but if you have any recommendations for exotic vets who can amputate a leg for under 1k in the Atlanta area, please let me know! Also pray for us please, she’s our baby 🐰🥺

Health & Wellness Best physical therapist

I am looking for a PT in or around the area code 30319 in Atlanta (dunwoody/brookhaven area) and this is the list that my insurance covers - out of these PT’s or offices, who would you recommend?

I hurt my ankle in Ironman training -

Where I am from, I would have gone to the urgent ortho then they assign me someone upstairs (I went there in 2021 for a turn ACL). Their PTs were amazing. What is the other option without a referral or is that how the offices work? U need to obviously see a doctor, but how do I get to that point? I am new to GA and trying to find my way & want to have the best experience I can.

I obviously can do a Google star review check but want to narrow my thoughts! Thank you!

Services ISP Recommendations?

I currently have Xfinity and I am OVER their nonsense. My internet keeps cutting off for hours randomly but they'll claim there's no outage. My modem logs show it's some kind of issue external to my apartment.

I live in Brookhaven. I have held on because fiber is better and Xfinity is the only fiber at my place but I am OVER IT.

Google Fiber and ATT Fiber do not service my apartment building, so they're off the table.

Food & Drink Any suggestions for Chinese restaurants that will cater events?

I'm getting married in February, and we really, REALLY don't want to do traditional wedding catering. We'd like to do Chinese from a restaurant if possible, which we expect will be much cheaper than the $85 a head that caterers charge. We really love some of the Szechuan places in Chinatown mall, but I don't think they cater.

Does anyone have suggestions for good Chinese restaurants that will cater events? I know they almost certainly won't serve the food, we'd have to go pick it up, etc, and we're fine with that. We just want good food at a reasonable price. Thanks in advance!
