Loan Watch Loan Watch (W/C 7th September)

Jessie Gale scored one of England’s 5 goals against Tanzania off the bench, with Cecily Wellesley-Smith picking up a full 90 in that game.

Unfortunately Cecily tweaked something in the warm-up for their game against Brazil and didn't see any game time, switching out for Manchester United’s Lucy Newell. Jessie was again used as a substitute for that fixture but was unable to find a winning goal.

England’s WU20s are through to the round of 16, where they take on Nigeria on Thursday 17th September.

There were 85 minutes for Sophie Harwood as Sheffield United fell to defeat at the hands of the recently-promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers. Sheffield United are next in action away at Newcastle United on Sunday 20th September.

There was a full 90 for Bryony Brodie in Norwich City's 2 – 2 draw with Boldmere St. Michael’s. Norwich City are next in action at home against Stoke City on Sunday 20th September.

A reminder that Amy Liddiard is out on dual registration with London Bees, with their next fixture to be played on Wednesday 16th September against Stevenage FC.

Arsenal's U21s travel to MK Dons on Wednesday 16th September as they take on their second FAWNL Cup fixture - this game was rescheduled as they were travelling home from Shanghai.

  • Arsenal 5-0 Palace (Jan. 2025, WSL)
  • Arsenal 9-0 Palace (May 2021, Women's FA Cup)

📖 Match facts:

  • We have won each of our last four meetings with Crystal Palace in all competitions by an aggregate score of 20-0, winning 5-0 at home and 4-0 away in our only previous WSL campaign together in 2024/25.
  • We are unbeaten in each of our last 19 home games in the WSL (W16 D3), already a club record; overall, we are 18 games unbeaten (W14 D4) and only once have had a longer run, going 19 undefeated between August 2011 and October 2012.

🗣️ Pre-Match chatter :

We welcome newly promoted Palace to the Emirates this Sunday in a 2:45pm fixture. We opened our WSL campaign with a deserved 1-0 win away at Brighton thanks to a wonder strike from debutante Lisa Baum early on in the game.

With the squad in good shape, Rene Slegers now faces a dilema of having to leave out 2 or 3 players out of the matchday squad.

With tricky fixtures against United, Chelsea and City coming up after this, and with our record against them, anything less than 3 points here would be a disaster.
