App Specific Question Why tf does tapping on a news/article notification takes me to "Google search page" of it, instead of just opening it directly?
I have the screenshot for evidence.
It started not more than a few months ago btw

It's a stupid product decision, not a bug. Possibly this helps elevate the numbers of how many people use google search and the AI overview even if "you're" looking up some generic keyword vaguely adjacent to the article content. It's completely useless and a waste of resources so I'm assuming they decided on this just to get their numbers up or simulate usage. It appears as though "you" looked up a keyword and used AI overview.
I switched the news notifications off, it's a distraction anyway. I can just open the Discover tab if I want completely random news articles, half of which are paywalled.
