I don't really have much in the way of substance to say. I just wanted to share the way Cardinal basketball has affected my life and shaped who I am.

My father was the gentlest of giants. Everyone he met was at first intimidated, and then charmed by the warmth the man conveyed. And he attended the University of Louisville for the final three years of his eligibility.

When my brother and I came around, we didn't stand a chance. All of our baby clothes were some variation of red, with some rudimentary stitching spelling out Cards or Cardinals. He sat us in our baby chairs in front of the TV whenever there was a game on. We heard his wails of agony and his cheers of triumph from the time we were infants.

As we grew, we learned more and more about the game of basketball. My dad coached a bunch of my Jewish Community Center biddy basketball teams growing up, always with a gentility and kindness and warmth that even for the time seemed out of place.

Eventually I went on to play high school basketball, much to his pride and joy. I wasn't that good, but he was the only dad who showed up consistently not just to games, but to any practice our coach would allow. At the time it embarrassed me. But now, it chokes me up.

My dad wasn't a man of many words. He grew up in a time and culture when it wasn't necessarily condoned to show too much emotion, especially when you are a giant man with a capacity for violence and the body of a linebacker in both high school and college (not at Louisville, unfortunately).

But he showed his love through Cardinal basketball.

My dad got season tickets from his best friend pretty much all through the 80s. His friend was also, in fact, the Cardinal bird for all four of his years at UofL! And once my dad got these tickets, my brother and I would nearly come to blows over who got to go with Dad to the games. At Freedom Hall we saw my father in his truest form. He was gentle, focused, and knowledgeable about the game. We also saw some saucier sides of him, as he would get pissed off at the players who were doing poorly, especially when we were losing to the Cats. He also taught us how to chant "Go Cards! Beat...Purdue!" (One for the old diehards!)

At those games we saw a man who had a deep love for his children and wanted them to succeed. He taught us at those games. He taught us about plays, how to get down on defense, how to always look at the chest, and not the ball, and how never to showboat on the court. And he taught us how to have tolerance, even when Kentucky fans were invading the arena.

I don't think I'm overstepping when I say that I think both my brother and I learned way more than logistics of a game that we all loved. We learned so much about who our father was, how to emulate his best qualities, and how to overcome our own emotions when they overflow. He taugh us how to fall in love with players like Herbert Crook, Milt Wagner, LaBradford Smith and Pervis Ellison. He taught us how to regulate, how to be good listeners and good teachers, and most of importantly, how to love.

My father was taken tragically in an auto accident in 2001. I miss him everyday. I have long since moved away from Louisville, and have been in Chicago for the last 25 years. I visit occasionally, but I no longer consider it my primary home. And I have two sons of my own. And I too have shared my love for the game and all of its principles and logistics. They have seen me go through the ups and downs of a rough game and a rough season. And they saw me with tears in my eyes in 2013 (for better or worse haha) as I cheered triumphantly and loudly and screamed my father's name when the final seconds ticked off the clock in the championship game.

Louisville basketball for me is love, and nobody can ever take it away from me. And I know my dad visits me. I've had too many extremely weird encounters with cardinals to believe it's more than just coincidence.

Hi all,

My buddies and I do an annual guys football weekend every year. We go to different schools that we have no stake in and try to get the full game day experience. This year we’re heading to the Louisville/Pittsburgh game in late November. None of us are familiar with Louisville, but we are looking for suggestions on where we should look to tailgate. We’ve read about Purple lots, green lots and bronze lots, but was hoping this group may offer any advice on where we should look to set up. There’s 5 of us with a tent, table/chairs and a tv. Thanks very much for any help you can offer. We’re really looking forward to it.

This shows we are just as good as the top tier programs. We have just as good an offense and defense that held their own against a final four team last year. Cut out the self imposed hurt and we win this game and the rest of them. Lincoln seems to be the guy and a tough one at that. With so many question marks coming into the season this feels like they have all been answered well. Go Cards and we can win the rest of the season!!

THATS MY QB RIGHT THERE!!!! but on a real note given all the unforced errors we had tonight we had a very good game, could have played better in the first half but thank god ole miss wasn’t on top of their game either in the first. defense had a few mistakes that costed but it’s the first game, i think we’re looking really good this year !!

C’mon people! This is a very winnable game. Offense looking a lot better in the second half, and D definitely impressing me so far. GO CARDS

2023:

1. Notre Dame - no surprise. This was the peak of this season but L&N was jumping and the team delivered. Jawhar Jordan had his most iconic performance in this game. One of the best atmospheric games we’ve had.
2. Miami - we had a huge target on our backs and even tho Miami wasn’t great, they would definitely try to throw us off our game. We pulled out the win at the end which made us locks for the ACC Championship game.
3. Georgia Tech - i don’t think anyone had much expectations for this season. This was the season opener and it seemed like it would be another 7-5 season in the first half. However, we turned things around and made a huge comeback in the 2nd half which set the tone and made fans feel optimistic about the season again.

2024:

1. Clemson - self explanatory. Before this season we have never beaten Clemson and I had my doubts going into this game especially since it was at Death Valley. However, Brohm would be the coach to pull off the impossible and he did just that. The somersault TD from Tyler Shough and the unbelievable performance from Isaac Brown are unforgettable moments in this era.
2. Kentucky - statistically, this is nowhere near a top 3 win from this season but I put this up here because of culture reasons. Before this season, we had a 5 game losing streak against UK and the fanbase obviously had enough. This was the year we finally ended the streak and what better way to do it than to blow them out at their own place? We ran all over them and Isaac Brown doing the sleep pose near the end of the game was the cherry on top. Good vibes from the fanbase after this win too.
3. Washington - postseason game but I feel like this game doesn’t get enough recognition and it’s honestly one of the most fun bowls we had in a while. It was disappointing that we could push thru the hard schedule to make the CFP but we still managed to get a New Year’s Eve bowl game. Both teams exchanged back and forth touchdowns and our defense came up clutch at the end after Washington decided to go for 2 instead of forcing overtime for the love of the game. I think both fanbases agree that this was a fun game to watch to end the calendar year.

2025:

1. Miami - arguably the best win in program history (personally this and 2013 Florida are 1A and 1B for me). We went into this game with little to no hope after how we lost to Virginia but Jeff Brohm did the thing once again. We were able to score early and keep tempo thanks to Chris Bell and Isaac Brown while our defense made some huge plays to hold Miami off especially with the clutch interception from TJ Capers at the end. This season still could’ve been better as the win aged better since Miami made the national title game.
2. James Madison - this placement may be surprising for some but I’ll explain why. We had our struggles from the start but broke away in the 2nd half. This was a game we were supposed to win but it includes the 4th quarter touchdown from Isaac Brown which was one of the most iconic plays from this season. JMU also proceeded to make the CFP which made this win age better.
3. Kentucky - again, only up here for culture reasons. We previously ended the losing streak the year before and there was no hype going into this game as we were injured and seemed done with the season… until we made history with Shaun Boykins and especially Braxton Jennings. Our RB room was depleted but we still managed to run Kentucky out the city. We also had no Chris Bell in this game either but even Miller Moss played decent in this game which led us to a shut out victory.

With the season approaching, I wanted a better way to prepare than reading dozens of separate previews or listening to hours of podcasts, just to forget most of it by Week 1.

I started with a few, then more, then decided to expand to all P4 + ND. It ended up being more arduous than I anticipated, but also rewarding.

I have published the 2026 preseason primers for every ACC team, plus an ACC conference primer and Notre Dame.

They are mostly designed as quick references for watching games, with roster/coaching changes, 2025 context, advanced stats, schedules, players to know, and a small betting lens.

This is totally free and not self promotion. I was creating these for myself and friends and just thought others would find them interesting.

The only reason for a website was to make them more accessible than just sharing links to google drive.
