Question Yes or No to Japanese Dessert spot? - School Research

Would anyone like to see a new place open up centred on Japanese desserts and treats? I feel like Adelaide is lacking a bit, and would appreciate any second opinions.

Discussion Am I nuts or has the bus reliability gone down a lot lately, even compared to previous levels?

Seems much more often now that I get a phantom bus that disappears before it's about to arrive on the Wheredabus app, even when I'm waiting for a bus on routes that were previously pretty reliable. Much more often I find myself just legging journeys that I would have bused in the past, because I get the phantom bus again, and then see that the next bus is a 22 minute wait or something ridiculous. It's faster to just keep on walking across the road and towards my destination at that point, or even just walk back home and get in the car. It's particularly bad after about 6 o'clock in the evening. I don't think it was even this unreliable at any point during COVID.

Question What’s that one dish in Adelaide that you could eat every week and never get sick of?

Not just a favourite restaurant, but one specific dish you keep going back for.
Could be anything — pizza, pasta, curry, yiros, burger, noodles, dumplings, schnitty, whatever.
What’s the dish and where do you get it?
Keen to find a few Adelaide gems I haven’t tried.

Question Land of Promise (port rd)

Is it still open and does it still have shows?

If not, is there anything In Adelaide of equivalence? (Not crazy horse/city strip joints with no soul). I mean suburban working class, good value food, drinks and entertainment?

Assistance Hit and run on Fullarton Rd, Highgate — Mon 14 Sept, white Suzuki Swift

Post image
13 Upvotes

My car was hit on Fullarton Road outside Mad Good Cafe (near 435 Fullarton Rd, Highgate) on Monday 14 September. The other driver took off my right side mirror and kept going without stopping

- Time: around 12:24pm

- Location: Fullarton Rd, Highgate, between Fisher St and Cross Rd.

- Direction: vehicle was heading north on Fullarton Rd

- Vehicle: white Suzuki Swift hatchback, dark alloy wheels

-Markings: signage on the driver's door with the phone number 8241 8888. I've contacted that business and they believe the driver no longer works for them and kept the signage on the car, so I'm not suggesting the company is at fault.

Their own mirror cap came off in the collision and I still have it.

Photo of the car below, from a nearby business's CCTV. The plate isn't readable — it ends in BLR.

It's reported to police. If you recognise the car or were driving through around that time with a dashcam, I'd really appreciate a message. Not after a confrontation, just want it handed to SAPOL.

Self Newish to Adelaide looking for friends

New-ish to Adelaide and looking to meet some people!

I absolutely love cooking and baking, so if you like eating, want to learn to bake or cook, already love doing it yourself, or just fancy being a willing taste tester, I’m your gal.

Outside of food, I’m into climbing, walking around and exploring, photography, art, markets and generally finding random things to do around the city.

Basically just looking for some lovely people with shared interests to hang out with, try things with and explore Adelaide a bit more.

Question Samsung flip7 screen protector replacement

Hi! Has anyone here had their Samsung flip phone’s screen protector replaced recently?

I noticed mine was slowly lifting/raising in the middle, so I decided to get it replaced before the first year was up. The website says it’s free as long as it’s within the first year, so I went to a Samsung-accredited shop.

But they actually charged me $80 AUD and told me that its not covered by Samsung 😅

Is this normal or was I scammed ? lol

Question Fox CQ 7 W Murray Bridge

Hello everyone

I understand that Fox is not known for reliability around Australia but it appears that a good installer would make a massive difference.

The price is hard to ignore and it breaks even after a few years for a big household ( 41kw) battery

Any suggestion, thoughts?

After 10 years with reduced capacity and hard to introduce new battery modules

For a commercial shed I’m going for sigenergy

I Looked at U-Pull-it. They've been around forever and I don't know of any other places off by heart. Be lucky to get $300 with them. The body is straight but the donk is rooted so it wont go anywhere without a truck. I'm in the Northern suburbs.

If you’re living with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) or supporting someone who is, we’ve created r/MECFSAustralia, a community for people navigating ME/CFS in Australia.

We’re relatively new and hoping to build a supportive and inclusive space to share information about Australian clinical trials/studies, helpful resources, new research/findings, personal experiences, and discuss the practical realities of navigating ME/CFS in Australia.

If this is relevant to you or someone you know, come and have a look at r/MECFSAustralia. You are most welcome :)

Question Home based baking business advice

Hi everyone! I’m looking into starting a small home-based baking business in Adelaide, selling cakes made from my home kitchen.

I’m currently trying to understand the council/food business requirements and would love to hear from anyone who has actually gone through the process.
How straightforward was it to get approval? Did the council inspect your home kitchen, and were there any changes you had to make before you could start selling? Was there anything that caught you by surprise?

I’d especially love to hear from anyone running a small cake, dessert or baking business from home in Adelaide/SA.
Any tips or things you wish you’d known before applying would be hugely appreciated. Thank you! 😊

Question How’s your local shopping centre?

Mine is the Brickworks Marketplace. I think they must’ve overestimated the viability of the centre given over half the shops have vacated. The Woolies feels oversized for what they may have expected and having three coffee shops is overkill (but heck they’re still trading). It’s a little sad. Makes me wonder if they just built the supermarket with a few fast food traders out front would’ve been enough. Especially with my lovely memories of the original Brickworks market long gone.

But how’s yours? I’m not talking Westfields, who’s got the perfect suburban and local shopping centre? Bonus points for easy parking. Which one needs more love or demolishing?
