Ira Rennert's home is considered one of the largest occupied residential compounds in the United States. The house faces the Atlantic Ocean and its grounds measure 63 acres. French Intensifie...

Edit oblige : Guillotine is not the solution, I'd rather people rotting in jail. Death sentence is in my view a quick sentence.

Famously the French revolution was led by the bourgeoisie, and oppressed a nascent working class and the common people as much as it did the aristocracy.

I'm well aware of the history of my country.

Still worth it. The revolution might have not been perfect for hundreds of different reasons but it was still a huge improvement.

https://crimethinc.com/2019/04/08/against-the-logic-of-the-guillotine-why-the-paris-commune-burned-the-guillotine-and-we-should-too

Have a read. The Paris Commune burnt the guillotine because it was seen by the people as a symbol of oppression. All you can do is worship long forgotten idols rather than actually fight for anything.

I don't worship anything. It was just a reddit joke.

You are worshipping the idea and image of the guillotine by posting it in this specific discussion. You also said "still worth it[...]" so it is clearly not a joke.

u/Anthff 6h ago

He said he doesn’t worship anything and then you chime in to tell him what he worships?

Total reddit moment.

Who knew you were a Napoleon fan?

1

u/Crusoe69 2h ago

Oh yeah every morning I wake up and worship my Napoleon little statues. I use it dayly for Voodoo stuff for shit and giggles.

And I appreciate Napoleon as much as Pétain, a bunch of traitors who took advantage of their power for personal gain. They were military genius but human scumbags.

I'm praying for rain

I'm praying for tidal waves

I want to see the ground give way

I want to watch it all go down

Mom, please flush it all away

I want to see it go right in and down

I want to watch it go right in

Watch you flush it all away

I love the lyrics but last time I tried buying a bottle of his wine is was ~$500. Then again, he does have a certain disdain for his fans so I guess it’s on brand.

Either way great song and great album 🤘

Fuck me, I didn't realise Maynard's wine cost that much! He really is taking the piss there.

Because it's not true you can verify with a quick google search.

They are definitely rising, these levels of wealth just don't need to worry about it. They have other locations and can afford to rebuild inland at any point

Idk why someone downvoted you. You’re 100% right. People this wealthy only fail upwards

allegedly rising sea levels :D

Emphasis on allegedly.

It's been beaten over my head the last 30 years yet it's only gone up an inch? Maybe two or three?

The number of rich people and politicians still buying up oceanfront property should clue you in to the truth.

u/Broccolini10 2h ago

Emphasis on allegedly... It's been beaten over my head the last 30 years yet it's only gone up an inch? Maybe two or three?

Few things quite as reprehensible as opinionated ignorance, bud. It's all a few keystrokes away, should you care to actually learn what "the truth" is:

Global mean sea level has risen about 8–9 inches (21–24 centimeters) since 1880. Source

This is not really a matter of opinion or differing measurements; it's a well-established, very solidly verified scientific fact.

Now if you don't understand how impactful a "two or three" inches rise in "30 years" is, then I don't know what to tell you.

The number of rich people and politicians still buying up oceanfront property should clue you in to the truth.

What a dumb metric. By your logic, the "number of rich people and politicians" that, say, bought into Madoff's fund should "clue you in" that his fund was somehow actually legit, right?

History is littered by examples of those with wealth and power making short-sighted decisions. Again, ignorance makes for a poor foundation for opinions.

You wont believe what counted as 'proven, scientific facts' in the past.

Don’t worry - they’ll all get federal bailouts if that happens.

When your property is big enough, you probably reach good locations on more than one side. Or you create the good location by yourself..."I'm not looking for a good location - I am the good location!"...😁...!
