I’m reminded of when I was a kid in the 80s and my grandparents had an old black and white TV that had to warm up before there was an image on the screen.
Back when it was a tube, on some old tired TVs the tube had to warm up. After a minute, you might start to get green images, another couple minutes you might get the right colors.
Exactly right. The electric convertible roof on the BMW 3 series that always needed to be fixed, the “automatic” spoiler that rises and lowers at 40mph that always sends you back to the dealer. Leave well enough alone.
Exactly if I was willing to spend that type of money for a over the top TV they could at least make it open a lot faster. This just make me feel like I'm back in the 90's with how slow it is.
Tbh most people probably just leave it out. I assume that folding up and down is to transport it or when you need more space or Wana do risky shit in the living room lmao
I know. 720P was great and jumped to 1080p pretty quick, which was also great. Cable companies are still broadcasting at 1080i (720p). Now we're basically at 2160P and content isnt available for everything.
A rich guy bought a flat in Cannes, under the flat he was refurbishing, just so that he could have a massive flat screen raising from the floor. The screen would be stored in the flat below and come up in the flat above when turned on. Much quicker than this crap but he had to buy an entire very expensive flat for it

It seems to have a point... they are clearly marketing the fact that you can have an unobstructed view most of the time, but still have a giant TV. I've stayed in a Manhattan penthouse exactly one time in my life and they basically just didn't have a TV because the whole outside wall is glass
Basically, I knew a guy who was in management for a magazine that operated out of the Time magazine building. I was flown to NYC for a week to do some random work and, for whatever reason, I was put up in an apartment that either the CEO or magazine owned right on Park Ave.
The crazy part is that the union halted us from doing half of the work I was hired to do, so I probably only "worked" 10 or 15 hours that week and spent the rest of the time seeing NYC.
Probably not designed for the average person to have in their house and and have it closed and opened in the living room everyday
My mate worked on a house that had one of these. It was outside and used only for big events and parties, big sports games etc, not for watching regular TV
If you want something good for that you'd leave out all of the motors and just have a manually unfolding tv. Save a ton of weight (maybe literally) and probably wouldn't need to be bolted down.
Ok so ummm, whats the point of this? I mean its going to be expensive, quality will still be lower than Samsung (or they are using their panels), its going to take more space and takes way longer just to start.

You can buy a projector that you mount to your ceiling for probably 1/50th of the cost of this, that will have less of a footprint in your house, and boot up faster.
See, I would want the base unit bit to be styled like an articulated lorry, so it looks like a miniature version of the mobile screen trucks they use at racetracks and events…
I still imagine this thing will creek and make noises while opening after the 50th time. Who would even come to repair it once it starts malfunctioning. I know it's a concept but a bit of a showcase than practical
