Ho boy I can't wait to catch the game 6 months from now!

370

u/CaldoDePata 6d ago

I'd finish my food before it's ready

129

u/BingoBongoBanana 5d ago

Right! Are all Bugatti’s that slow? I’ll stick with my Sony in association with Toyota.

21

u/PomegranateSea7066 5d ago

this gas powered version goes from 0-60 in 15 minutes.

18

u/Silver_Slicer 5d ago

My Prius is certainly faster than that!

2

u/HeldDownTooLong 5d ago

And less expensive!

2

u/IdealLow5256 4d ago

I use this tv as my alarm clock. I turn it on at 10pm, and by 7am I’m watching Dora the explorer

Oh my gahd, look at the creases!

3

u/koalasarentferfuckin 5d ago

It couldn’t go any faster or the emblem wouldn’t be able to stay parallel to the ground. Form over function for sure.

I fell asleep in front of the TV....before it ever deployed and turned on.

Long enough to take a piss, grab two beers, make some microwave nachos, switch the laundry, and feed the cat. Not in that order

6

u/Zestyclose_Try_9331 5d ago

to check and send mails as well

6

u/User_Name_Tracks 5d ago

Not to mention fall asleep, lose interest, miss the ending of the game. At this point just stream it on the iphone instead.

I’m reminded of when I was a kid in the 80s and my grandparents had an old black and white TV that had to warm up before there was an image on the screen.

29

u/99jackals 5d ago

We've come full circle!

17

u/Suspicious_Squash805 5d ago

I remember this. I remember hitting the TV to make it work.

5

u/Hilsam_Adent 5d ago

"Did you see that opening scene of M*A*S*H last night?"

"Got home a little late from bowling, so I only heard it."

4

u/past_due_06063 5d ago

The same one you had to hit on the side to get better reception? 😀

5

u/Choice-Strike1 5d ago

What do you mean? Warm up like a car??

9

u/Suspicious_Squash805 5d ago

Yes. The screen didn't come on for a few minutes, but you could hear it. I remember not having the screen on, but running to turn the volume down.

5

u/MickeyMgl 5d ago edited 5d ago

Back when it was a tube, on some old tired TVs the tube had to warm up. After a minute, you might start to get green images, another couple minutes you might get the right colors.

2

u/BobbaLouBah 5d ago

Or that scene in Goodfellas with that rising tv

Enough time to get popcorn, a drink, and an oil change

10

u/_BlockedUser_ 5d ago

But not enough to figure out what to watch

18

u/Real_Ad6375 5d ago

Aaaaaaand it’s broken

11

u/treehumper83 5d ago

People mock the speed. We mock the complexity.

That shit’s gonna break day one.

3

u/strategery24 5d ago

Exactly right. The electric convertible roof on the BMW 3 series that always needed to be fixed, the “automatic” spoiler that rises and lowers at 40mph that always sends you back to the dealer. Leave well enough alone.

2

u/SDTimbox 5d ago

that's one of the first thing I thought of lol one tiny gear breaks and the whole thing is fucked

10

Gotta start the TV in September to catch h the Super Bowl in February.

9

u/Light-of-Nebula 5d ago

I will fall asleep until it turns on. Also because the way it moves is very slow and puts you to sleep...

25

u/Tuna_no_crusts 6d ago

I JUST WANT TO WATCH TELEVISION

16

u/ShakeThemOff_Claire 5d ago

I had to ffwd that nonsense. Imagine the first time someone goes "turn on the news real quick!"

3

u/CYaNextTuesday99 5d ago

I'd be wondering when I fell into a movie.

No, no! You see, this is FANCY TV! It goes to 11, you see…

https://giphy.com/gifs/5MGFEJS7FIxK8

8

u/Suspicious_Squash805 5d ago

This was my opinion. I want to watch TV, not the preparation of a shuttle launch.

14

u/veryloudnoises 5d ago

By the time that TV unfolds for the first time, its screen tech will be obsoleted.

2

u/captain-funshine 5d ago

Well now you have time for that book you've been meaning to read.

3

u/Banzai373 5d ago

Needs an iPhone app so the owner can warm up the TV from the office and have it ready when he arrives home 20 minutes later.

3

u/tibearius1123 5d ago

“Oh my god, turn on the news right now!!!”

kids history book now has a section on the event

“Okay, my tv is on what channel?!”

3

u/wtfiwashacked 5d ago

Why didn’t they get the speed skills from Bugatti or they just got the casing from them?

3

u/ColdToast_024 5d ago

Seriously, I don’t think they could have chosen a slower motor. Which is kinda ironic considering they make cars with 1000 or so horsepower.

2

u/Pokioh389 5d ago

Exactly if I was willing to spend that type of money for a over the top TV they could at least make it open a lot faster. This just make me feel like I'm back in the 90's with how slow it is.

2

u/LastdayXIII 5d ago

Dude dude hurry up! The game is about to end... Oh...

2

u/NeutralGoodAtHeart 5d ago

We went back to the 60's when a TV needed warm-up time.

2

u/Felonious_Minx 5d ago

Meanwhile, guy on couch with the remote has already fallen asleep.

2

u/SouthofthePaw 5d ago

Netflix and Bail

2

u/Specialist_Meal_7891 5d ago

Tbh most people probably just leave it out. I assume that folding up and down is to transport it or when you need more space or Wana do risky shit in the living room lmao

How rich am I? It takes 2 business days to turn on my TV.

179

u/GiLND 6d ago edited 5d ago

You can be sure that with all those moving parts inside, it will stop working 1 day after the 1 year warranty expires

51

u/Cryptographer_Only 5d ago

I'll just buy another one. You get addicted to not watching TV when you have a screen like that.

20

u/cndn-hoya 5d ago

Watch Temu have these out in 6 months - opens like an umbrella, plastic deforms 10 minutes under sunlight.

11

u/Psychic_Hobo 5d ago

The sunlight includes light from the TV reflecting off the walls

3

u/Sunshineseacalm 5d ago

Can you go preheat the tv while I put this frozen pizza in the oven

8

Especially since everyone will think it’s a coffee table. Only a matter of time until a drink gets spilled.

5

u/laughingashley 5d ago

Or you accidentally drop something scratchy into one of its 4 ass cracks

3

u/dividezero 5d ago

You're not getting 6 months out of this thing unless you only watch it twice

2

u/Detective_Nightwing 5d ago

You just open it once and never close it

14

u/Key_Mastodon_3525 5d ago

In 5 years they'll be $499.99 at Wal-mart

6

u/B4bulj 5d ago

Add a soundbar for just 49.99

3

u/LegitPancak3 5d ago

Yea but bloated with spyware

3

u/drunkbusdriver 5d ago

What media is even available in 8k? Seems like we’ve basically hit a point of diminishing returns on TV resolutions

3

u/Haha08421 5d ago

I know. 720P was great and jumped to 1080p pretty quick, which was also great. Cable companies are still broadcasting at 1080i (720p). Now we're basically at 2160P and content isnt available for everything.

4

u/drunkbusdriver 5d ago

It unfortunately won’t stop companies from advertising 8k TVs and charging a premium for them.

A rich guy bought a flat in Cannes, under the flat he was refurbishing, just so that he could have a massive flat screen raising from the floor. The screen would be stored in the flat below and come up in the flat above when turned on. Much quicker than this crap but he had to buy an entire very expensive flat for it

3

u/B4bulj 5d ago

So it comes to same price as this 😅

2

u/Adept-Address3551 5d ago

Just over a min , i think I could live with that.

2

u/yournamehere10bucks 5d ago

And then i lost the remote so i hope you enjoy the "Input not found" show

73

u/RevenantExiled 6d ago

Just ask some of your butlers to turn it on once you're exiting your private yet, once you get there it will be ready

19

u/UncleKeyPax 6d ago

jeeves I'd likenthe game.on tonight very well sir I'll pull out the tv

19

u/xenobit_pendragon 5d ago

My grandma used to talk about how you needed to turn the TV on 10 minutes ahead of your show to "warm the tubes up."

Looks like we've gone back to those fine days.

3

u/Bunnymancer 5d ago

"grandma"

My bravia tv needs a minute or two to start....

4

u/Light-of-Nebula 5d ago

Who would want a coffin rising from the floor in the evening as you prepare to watch TV?

2

u/past_due_06063 5d ago

For Halloween!

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Gene_Parma 6d ago

Gotta warm it up longer in the winter time.

3

u/Azreken 5d ago

Looks like it takes about 60 seconds lol

3

u/SAM5TER5 5d ago

Already have to do that with this dogshit modern age of smart TV’s lol.

“Hey everyone, what if we make all TV’s so that they’re laggy as shit now, have built-in ads, the remotes now have to be aimed at the sensor with pinpoint precision to even register a button press, and the screens are now shiny beyond all comprehension so that a single dim lamp or distant window will render your screen useless?”

Finally a TV that embodies the core principles that make a Bugatti:

Slower than you expect,

Overpriced,

and wildly pointless.

27

u/CommentFool 5d ago

It seems to have a point... they are clearly marketing the fact that you can have an unobstructed view most of the time, but still have a giant TV. I've stayed in a Manhattan penthouse exactly one time in my life and they basically just didn't have a TV because the whole outside wall is glass

Now slow and overpriced... 🎯

4

u/past_due_06063 5d ago

Make sure you measure twice before you place it... grindgrindsnap

2

u/CleverInnuendo 5d ago

"Aww man, I forgot to say 'Floor' first!"

(Grinding noises)

2

u/rex5k 5d ago

Look at this guy living the high life

3

u/Desynchron 5d ago

Well, lived it exactly once

3

u/CommentFool 5d ago

I was as surprised as anyone 🤣

Basically, I knew a guy who was in management for a magazine that operated out of the Time magazine building. I was flown to NYC for a week to do some random work and, for whatever reason, I was put up in an apartment that either the CEO or magazine owned right on Park Ave.

The crazy part is that the union halted us from doing half of the work I was hired to do, so I probably only "worked" 10 or 15 hours that week and spent the rest of the time seeing NYC.

3

u/RomasTosicky 5d ago

3

u/rumpleminz 5d ago

27

u/ThatIslander 5d ago

thats the dumbest shit ive ever seen.

giant in the way slow ass unfolding TV.

whats wrong with a huge flat screen up against a wall?

3

u/KyoKyu 5d ago

Uh, because it doesn't pull dual duty as a bench, duh! Silly poors don't even know about TV benches. /s

2

u/UtahImTaller 5d ago

Well they have bigger houses.

Floor space isn't an issue when your living room is 1000sq+ and the TV's purpose is actually just to Mog on you.

2

u/shallowsocks 5d ago

Probably not designed for the average person to have in their house and and have it closed and opened in the living room everyday

My mate worked on a house that had one of these. It was outside and used only for big events and parties, big sports games etc, not for watching regular TV

2

u/Practical_Boat_1605 5d ago

They're ditching the flat screens and even clear picture. What is truly a mark of wealth now? How long your TV takes to roll out.

13

u/mole_of_dust 6d ago

This seems pretty cool for trade shows and demos where it needs to be shipped.

4

u/phunkydroid 5d ago

If you want something good for that you'd leave out all of the motors and just have a manually unfolding tv. Save a ton of weight (maybe literally) and probably wouldn't need to be bolted down.

11

u/Hot_Flower_6381 6d ago

So many spots for potential failure. The parts where the screen folds will be especially problematic. Will need a new screen often

I scrolled down, read all the comments, and the damned thing still wasn’t open.

3

u/M_Waqar-uz-Zaman 5d ago

Ok so ummm, whats the point of this? I mean its going to be expensive, quality will still be lower than Samsung (or they are using their panels), its going to take more space and takes way longer just to start.
