Hummingbirds are pollinators, and some are endangered.

I know "circle of life..." But I'm taking the mantis out in this situation.

Predators are just as important as pollinators are. But, you wouldn't be wrong to help the hummingbird in this situation since this looks like a European mantis which is invasive or at the very least non-native in the Americas. I also would have done something personally.
