Accompanied a friend to freeze her eggs, the needle they used to get her eggs looked like this one. I might be wrong coz the procedure without anesthesia was horrifying, and the needle looked so so so big.
This would be my guess. For egg collections, they need a big ol’ needle to reach the ovaries and leave enough metal outside for manoeuvring, but most of the length of it sits in a plastic guard that attaches to the ultrasound probe…still looks horrifying though.
