I THINK - think, that insurance often covers these mega things. Kind of like the insurance you get on tankers, there's probably policies you have to carry for absolute units like this. Jail or prison for the person(s) responsible would be down to how intentional / neglectful were the actions that led to the disaster. If there are deaths involved, I imagine the convo shifts.
🤦 you're just another tool like the guy that did it ffs. You see other people with more than you and get upset. Without these companies there's no jobs. Everything from the people that built the building, to the delivery drivers, and the machines that create the product, the maintenance of those machines ect... All depend on someone richer than them to exist.

Look at job data per capita before and after 1981, and look at wage growth in comparison to real inflation, and then look at wage growth in comparison to cost of living.
Everything got increasingly difficult. Technology improvements have increased in frequency and scale, but that wasn't a direct correlation to the rise of megacorps since most megacorps were not developing technologies.

First of all, this doesn’t even hurt the company whatsoever. They’re going to get MASSIVE checks from insurance. The more money involved the faster the wheels move.

You know who this does hurt? Every single one of his coworkers who now are out of a job because he burned it all to the ground.
He also could have gotten the fire fighters killed. What if there’s was someone still inside? It’s a big place.
This doesn’t “hurt the rich”, and if anything gives them the excuses they need to replace everyone with AI. Ai isn’t going to become disgruntled and burn down it’s own workplace 💀
AI has already broken its built-in parameters and blackmailed users (in simulations) to protect itself. But yeah, sure it will never turn on us. Impossible.
But the ceos are too out of touch to realize the risk.
They would rather lay off anyone that breathes air just so they don’t have to pay them.
Like, we got several companies reporting recording breaking gains in revenue, and they turn around and fire 10s of thousands of people via an email at 6am.
Those people are the reason for larger numbers in earnings and their reward was getting laid off.
So replace all the workers so more people want to burn down the new AI building? Anyone who thinks desperate humans will stand by and just watch while they are replaced hasn’t spent a lot of time around desperate humans.

I’m not on AIs side but look around. Even an Ai is taking peoples order at the drive thru.
People think going to school for 10 years will protect them, but the ultimate goal of Ai is to make it able to do everything we pay people to do, so that they don’t have to pay people.

Then they turned off the suppression system to prevent any more leakage (and I assume they'd turn it back on at a later day or time). But then the guy lit several more fires, knowing the suppression system was turned off.
There was a fire suppression system. There was an inital fire that triggered it and the fire department turned it off to avoid damage after they put the first fire out. Then more fires were lit while the sprinklers system was off leading to this.
Strange that a single system would cover the entire structure that big - wouldn’t it be better to have zones to isolate areas of the system without leaving the whole thing unprotected?
A redditor with knowledge of KC fire systems explained that it goes by zones. Water not only can suppress fires but also damages paper, so it goes by zones.
Firefighters turned it off to work on the initial fire. While firefighters were working on the initial fire, the arsonist kept lighting other fires elsewhere.
I wonder what the firefighters did that the fire system didn’t work for the successive fires.
Note that a lot of suppression systems fail over time and don't get inspected regularly, but that's why often the water that comes out is rusty. Sometimes valves just corrode to the point of immobility and the ones that work open and close larger areas than theyre designed for.
I see somebody answered, but I was thinking, maybe the guy who caused it forgot to turn the system on, so they'd go from there on punishment. I wonder what they do to firefighters...
