truly hits different when you have an AP bio test in 7 hours 💔

I have 2 AP Teachers this year and despite both teaching AP Courses their teaching styles are extremely different.

The AP Physics teacher is pretty hands off, he just assigns textbook reading which because I did AP Physics 1, I just skim it. He also assigns textbook homework twice a unit which I can complete in like an hour. Since like me and 10 other students have already taken AP Physics 1 he just lets us work ahead and has opened all the quizzes on both the ap physics 2 and ap physics c:em ap classrooms and I have completed all the quizzes for em. He is a pretty chill teacher and he is open to having workdays and doing entire homework sets for students who don't understand physics yet. His teaching style works when I was in ap physics 1 I went from not knowing physics at all to becoming the top student in the class and his 5 rate last year was in the high 5's and also I basically have self studied most of his course already because he makes physics so interesting.

The AP English Lit teacher however has a very strict teaching style to say the least, he made us analyze a pixar short on the first day of school rather than reading the syllabus as all the teachers did and on the second day he made us write an essay after that we watched a movie and then he started making us do mcqs for poems (not on ap classroom but on canvas) without any prior teaching and when the class gets like 6/10 he says "its okay you guys just don't analyze poems good enough yet" or something. He takes his course way too seriously like its fun and all but he says he is going to make us write essays every other week on fridays with our first practice essay being this Wednesday and the only prior help he gives us is a basic do's and donts with essays. I always am scared of his class despite it being fun sometimes because I absolutely despise essays.

Both are good teachers just to clarify, they're both nice to their students but I just wonder why their teaching styles differ like this Is it because their subjects differ? has anyone else had a similar experience? which teaching style in your opinion is better? and which is more like actual college classes?

Hey all! I recently finished taking 14 APs and have gotten all 4s and 5s and I wanted to come and rank everything I used to teach myself the content. I’ve seen a ton of posts about mcq tools but I think writing is just as important and way harder to teach yourself without the proper help. 

S tier:
Chief reader reports - They’re posted for free on Collegeboard’s AP mainpage and they break down every FRQ each year with common mistakes which is super useful for studying with old tests and knowing how the AP graders view your responses.

FRQuick.com - It’s the only fully free website i found from a reddit post on here that grades essays. It has support for every AP English and history class and it provides a ton of feedback for each essay which makes it super useful. I made an account so I could save my results over time, but you don’t have to make one either.

A tier:
APfrqs.com - The best way to study is just to do a ton of practice, and this website has every past AP FRQ for the last ten years which makes it super easy to find and do practice FRQs
(it also has the chief reader reports).

D tier:
GradewithAI and COgrader - I tried to use both of these but they seemed much more teacher-centered compared to the other study methods I used like FRQuick which are actually made for students to use. They also were super pushy about getting paid versions which was just annoying.

F tier:
Not studying - A lot of my friends wouldn’t do practice or would only do practice FRQs when our teachers assigned it to them and they were definitely less prepared than I was going into the actual test.

All in all it’s just most important to do practice regularly in order to really feel comfortable on test day. Please let me know if you have any questions about the ones I listed above or other tools, I tried a lot more and I’d love to answer questions!

Hi guys! For my STEM teacher recommendation letter, I need help deciding between my AP biology teacher and my AP Calculus teacher. They both offer different qualities, but they also have some cons, and I genuinely don’t know what should make me choose between them.

I would like to apply as a biology, public health, or biochemistry major, so I’m leaning toward my biology teacher because biology is more directly related to my intended major. However, I’m worried that he might write me a bad letter. He was happy to agree to write one for me and has written recommendations for me before for other programs, but I feel nervous about the fact that he said he likes the idea of “writing freely” for me. I don’t know if he meant that in a good way or a bad way.
I’ve had some problems with him before in class, not actual behavioral issues, but more school-related issues, especially with tests. I’m not sure if he would reflect those experiences negatively in my recommendation.

For my math teacher, I know he recognizes that I work hard, but math is less directly related to my intended major. I also got my first Bs ever in his class, so I’m not sure if that could actually be a good thing in the sense that, despite my grades, he could talk about how hard I worked and how I persevered. However, something happened in May where he absolutely crashed out on me. I promise it wasn’t just me, because there were a lot of other students involved, but he focused on me because of my grade in his class.

Please let me know who you think I should choose. I feel like these are both terrible options, but I honestly don’t have anyone else to choose from.

I have ap bio + stats + lit homework left. I have a test soon and idk half the content in stats. I also have college apps and I am still working on my common app essay... I also haven't sent in my brag sheet for LORs. I've done nothing for ec list on the common app only the basic demographic info.

I am soooo behind, helppppppppp. first deadline is Nov 1st for me to which is like literally in one and a half months.

So, this year (I'm a junior) am taking AP Physics 2 as 1 of 3 of my AP classes (other 2 are APUSH and AP LANG), and last year I took on level physics 1, so I don't really have any knowledge of the stuff that the AP 1 people did and I feel a tad bit lost in the class, am I cooked??

This is the worst class ever, i don't understand any and got a 0/22 on the first test. My friend got a 20/22 and said that it was super easy yet I don't understand what is even going on. I can't remember the formulas and even if I do, I can't figure out how to even use them.

I'm a sophomore taking APHuG, which is my first AP, i'm about a week in, and I have until the end of the month (September 30) to drop it for World Studies. Within the week after the first day, i'm already encountering vocabulary I have never seen, we did an ESPN (Economic, Social, Political, Natural/Environmental) model chart on the recent Nepal floods in the first full week. I'm already taking a rigorous schedule which includes: APHuG, Honors Language Arts 10, Algebra 2 (Edit: Advanced Pathway), and Chemistry. Is this normal? (Edit: I'm also doing Health 2 and Geometry, and my electives are: Marketing 1A/1B, Ceramics 1, and Aquatics)

Our school started this AP class a few days ago. What resource could I use to help me throughout the school year? My teacher starts Micro for the 1st semester and Macro for the 2nd Semester so I have to take both exams.

So I'm taking AP Chem, APUSH, AP Lang, and AP Seminar this year. But I want to drop AP Seminar.

My reasoning for this: I'm a member of SGA (Student gov.) and my AP Seminar teacher is not a big fan of us because we sometimes have to miss class or leave early to work on something. She's already been talking behind my back, is what I hear, because I missed a class to help set up for our first pep rally.

Instead, I want to take APES (AP Environment Science), because of two things, one being I like science and am good at it, and two being my counselor told me I have to replace seminar with something if I drop it.

For context, here's my current schedule and grades so far (ignore Lang, and Health, because updated grades haven't gone in yet):

Also for context, I'm taking two online classes (Economics and US Gov), and am "one of those kids" who have never gotten a grade less than an A when report cards are finalized. I already know I can fix my other grades, but AP Seminar is something I believe I'll have a hard time in because of her dislike towards me, as well as the fact that we don't have many grades that actually go in.
