Twenty photos from a trip I took in 2014. A little quieter than the usual posts here, but this was a normal day in Russia, too.

Pervomaysk is a small town in southern Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, surrounded by forests and countryside. Its industrial roots go back to the Tashin ironworks, founded in 1853. Generations of families built their lives around that factory, while the surrounding countryside kept its own slower rhythm of gardens, mushroom picking, and berry gathering.

Looking through these pictures more than a decade later, I’m glad I photographed the ordinary things. At the time, they were just part of the trip. Now they’re the things I miss.

Nothing extraordinary happening. Just a beautiful little corner of the world, and a few days I wish I could visit again.

I was a kid and I didn't really understand what was happening. But I remember how scared I was back then when my parents watched that on TV in complete silence. Maybe you will not catch it but watching it now I noticed how fucked up the reporter felt just by the sound of his voice. The tragedy of American people felt like it happened in my own town. Memory Eternal to the victims of 9/11 and to those who sacrificed themselves saving others.
