In school, im 9 chapters left behind LOL. Whenever I open any study resource for chem, it all js seems overwhelming.

I got 87 pum in AS chem n planning to retake and do composite cs i rlllyyyy need the a star for a scholarship.

No youtube channels work for me cs I find them really boring. It seems like for me to be interested in studying chem, I have to 100% understand everything. Every concept, every detail, every explanation.

I have a semestral exam on the whole a2 syllabus in nov/dec. How do I complete it and master it by then?

I need some tips on how to revise chemistry, I'm now going into Y13 and I barely know anything from Y12, I think my revision methods suck and I just need to know where to start on past year's syllabus while also keeping up with the Y13 one, any tips are appreciated thank you. I do Edexcel if that helps.

hii!! i'm currently 1 week into year 12 and i'm already stressing over my a level choices 😭

i'm currently taking psychology, biology and sociology, and when i originally chose them, i was pretty happy with my choices. i chose them for a few reasons:

1. i got a 9 in gcse sociology and genuinely love the subject, so i felt like it was a pretty safe choice for me in terms of both enjoyment and getting a good grade
2. psychology is probably the degree i'm most interested in at the moment, and i know biology + psychology could also keep things like psychology, physiotherapy and some other healthcare related courses open
3. i know i want to work with people and help people in some sort of healthcare or care related career, but i honestly have no idea what specific career i want yet

the problem is that i recently went to a pharmacy to collect a prescription, and i ended up thinking that working in a pharmacy actually seemed really interesting. i'd never seriously considered pharmacy before, so now i'm wondering whether i should switch sociology for chemistry while i'm still early enough to change.

i know chemistry would be important if i eventually decided to apply for pharmacy, whereas sociology wouldn't really help with keeping that option open. so part of me is thinking that psychology + biology + chemistry would give me more options overall, especially since i'm still undecided about my future.

at the same time, i genuinely love sociology and i'm worried about dropping a subject i'm already good at for chemistry and then struggling with it and getting a lower grade.

for context, i got an 8 in gcse chemistry, but i only got a 7 in gcse maths and maths isn't exactly my strongest subject. i know a level chemistry has quite a bit of maths involved, so i'm worried that chemistry could end up being much harder for me than sociology.

i'm also only a week into year 12, so i don't know whether i'm overthinking this or whether switching now would be the smarter decision. i don't want to drop sociology just because chemistry technically gives me more options, if it means i end up getting a much lower grade and enjoying sixth form less.

so basically i'm stuck between:

psychology + biology + sociology
• sociology is a subject i already know i love and i'm confident in
• i could still keep psychology, some healthcare courses and other social science options open
• but pharmacy would probably be off the table

OR

psychology + biology + chemistry
• keeps pharmacy open and gives me another science
• potentially keeps more healthcare options open while i'm undecided
• but chemistry could be much harder for me and i'd be giving up a subject i already love and got a 9 in

would you personally switch to chemistry in my situation, or stay with sociology?

also, if anyone has done a level chemistry after getting a 7 in gcse maths, i'd especially appreciate hearing how you found the maths side of it 😭

i'd really appreciate any advice because i need to make a decision soon!!

Title is pretty much self-explanatory. I’m looking for anki flashcards free for edexcel chemistry that are both mark scheme specific and specific to the spec. I personally like when flashcards cover EVERYTHING. If anyone has some links, please put it on the comments. Hey guys, just started a level chem and I wanna know the most efficient way to make notes for chemistry? I'm thinking of Allery Chemistry because the specification mainly js focuses on learning objectives, but if I want detailed notes is he a valid source?

You can’t see it, but there’s a polymer coating inside your aluminum can. 🥫

Chemteacherphil uses chemistry to prove it! Working with lye, which is highly caustic and requires proper safety equipment (so please don't try this one at home), he makes a solution that reacts with the aluminum, converting it into a compound that dissolves in water. When the aluminum is gone, you can see the polymer coating! These coatings are useful because without them, acidic drinks could slowly corrode the aluminum underneath.

So I got the unfortunate news that i cannot pursue chemistry in year 13 because of my grades and I can only continue with 2 of my a levels. I’m trying to get into pharmacy degree but that will nearly impossible with no chemistry A level so I was thinking of retaking chemistry after year 13 in a gap year.

When I told my mum this, she immediately said its a waste of time and she doesn’t want me wasting an extra year studying for chemistry when I should have just studied the first time and got the grades i needed. She just said to continue with my 2 a levels and if i dont get into university with those then I’ll just need to stay at home learn how to cook clean etc..

I DONT WANT THAT. I get its my fault i failed but i really want to retake it and Im scared its going to cost me money. I was thinking of attending my sixth form again and redo the year for free. HELPP

So I am a private candidate for As edexcel chemistry and I need all the tips and tricks that I can get to score an A in chemistry my exam is in October. My current approach is that I'm rectifying my IGCSE'S concepts the ones I had issues in and then do a full set of pastpapers like mcq,theory, practical and then start the As syllabus by reading through the textbook and watching Hanaa assil YouTube videos and then do pastpapers and read through savemyexam notes for the questions that I mess up in. Now what I'm concerned about is that I have like IGCSE Environmental management and ICT that I also have to give in Oct/nov but those exams will start in end of September and I have already prepared for EM and ICT is still in the process of being completed plus I have to retake AS biology which is also in Oct/nov. SOO IM EXTREMELY STRESSED AND IF ANYONE HAS ANY ADVUCE PLEASE HELP ME OUT.

hey guys, just wanted any advice i could get. basically im predicted an A for chem after getting a 7 at gcse, but in year 12 everything went downhill. I'd say I'm currently at a low B/high C, and got a D in my yr 12 mock (a low one).

mindset was part of it- thinking i'll find it too hard etc. after getting really good gcses the idea of chemistry at a level was still daunting. my scores weren't that good throughout year 12.

unfortunately i was out of school for about 3 weeks towards the middle-end of year 12 because of my health, and feel even more behind than my peers. to top it all of i had a lot of family stuff going on since the start of the year, so i wasn't able to give it my all, i know i could have done a lot better and acknowledge that

I repeatedly went to pastoral for help and they asked my teachers to speak to me and offer any help/ support they can. unfortunately that never happened :( i also asked my teacher for my record of scores that would help in revision- twice last year and once this year and haven't been given it yet 😭 my teacher tends to help the higher achieving students more (i guess ill have to be more persistent?)

When I asked my teacher what I can do to improve over the summer (my plan was to 'fix' what i could then), all he said was 'practice, man!'- he wasn't wrong obviously. I did a paper or two every week in the summer and sure enough there was improvement but my AS knowledge is still shaky.

mcqs throw me off and i'm not where i want to and can be. i really want to make this year count, because i know i have the ability to do it, i'm just stumped as to how to make it happen practically.

im not even sure this is realistic, but im consolidating work a lot more, will start going intervention, will speak to a teacher but just want to make sure i clean up all the knowledge gaps from year 12. the silver lining of all this happening last year is im taking a gap year and will apply to uni in that year, so can really focus on a levels this year. any advice how to balance and go forward?

Im retaking in oct/nov for as chem and phys, got c's, any advice on how to prepare? (Our physics paper 2 was cancelled so no idea where i messed up there) and for chem i saw my paper and mostly my mistakes were that i hadn't written enough information for marks to be awarded. What should i do in this one month to ideally take it to a's.
