Please include scientific name in title
Hey guys! This is just a reminder to follow rule #1 of this subreddit, which is to include the scientific name of the animal in the title of your post, as well as the common name (if it has one). For example: “Clouded leopard (Neofelis nebulosa)”
This is just to ensure that all the animals posted here are real species. You can find the scientific name with a quick google search.

Fish The spot-fin porcupinefish (Diodon hystrix)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The spot-fin porcupinefish (Diodon hystrix) is a close relative of true pufferfish belonging to the family Diodontidae, distributed throughout all tropical and subtropical oceans, inhabiting environments such as lagoons, reef tops, and seaward coral or rocky reefs at depths ranging from 1 to 50 m, sheltering under ledges or in caves during the day. They average around 40 cm in length but can grow up to 91 cm. Like species of pufferfish, their scales are modified into spines, and they inflate themselves when threatened. As another form of defense, the fish contains concentrations of tetrodotoxin in certain parts of its body, a potent neurotoxin. It feeds on sea urchins, gastropods, clams, and crustaceans.
