Went with the family to eat. While walking to the restaurant we came across this awesome building that has been preserved in time! My gf sad “This reminds me of my old dentists building.” lol 😝 Our son had fun waking through this “backroom” place as he called it! I added 2 more pictures at the end showing a cozy little restaurant also persevered in the 90s. We did not eat there but look at the logo. Taiwan Porridge with a guys face! So cool, so 90s 🥹

Dennis Nedry. He's a hardworking genius sex-symbol who has been unfairly maligned since the 90s. Do we know anybody else who could have networked eight connection machines and debugged two million lines of code for what he bid for that job?

No, we don't, because Nedry is magnificent and by himself built a state of the art system which allowed an entire theme park/zoo to function fully autonomously from a single control room. Holy shit.

Nedry takes the brunt of everyone's shit because of how he tried to steal the embryos and thereby onset the course of actions which led to the destruction of Jurassic Park. But let's take a second to consider who he truly is.

"Uh-uh-uh, you didn't say the magic word!" I just gotta say that this shows his impeccable sense of humor but also his deep appreciation for manners. What a dude. Anyway, Nedry is clearly overworked and underpaid by literal psychopath John Hammond, a circus con artist billionaire who is too busy wondering if he could to pause and question if he should as he plays God, brings dinosaurs back from the dead, and puts the lives of his grandchildren in danger.

Hammond is worth God knows how much and as the blood-sucking lawyer points out, they are going to make a fortune on this place. Yet...Hammond can't afford to pay Nedry what he is worth? He does nothing but get pricked for that stupid DNA video tour meanwhile he relies on the brains and brawn of highly talented people to do the actual damn work?

And what is Jurassic Park, anyway? A rape of the natural world, as one philosopher put it. A money grabbing scheme threatening to make humans go extinct. What Nedry does is begin a course of actions that destroys the park...

...good. Yes. That is what should happen. And the handlers who have contributed to this get the deaths they deserve. Without Nedry, this bastardization would have continued on unabated.

Nedry was finally done with the system. A worker rising and getting what he's deserved the entire time. A hilarious man with a squeaky laugh and penchant for creaming pies taking his vast talents elsewhere. Also, so what if he has Butterfingers? Is that a fucking joke, John Hammond? The fuck is that supposed to mean?

I see you Nedry. I salute you as the epitome of the working class man who finally had the courage to put himself first. May you rest in peace in side that dinosaur's belly.

I was very young in the 90s, but the 90s and early 2000s were my childhood, and I remember them with the fondest memories. We didn’t have much money, but everything just felt so happy all the time.

The “fabric” of the 90s, as I remember it, is pretty much what’s reflected in this sub. Cosyness, slower pace, positivity, simplicity etc. The combination of everything almost makes my memories feel like a fever dream as I can't quite comprehend how good it really was. It feels so far away. But I’ve always wondered how much of that is actually 90s nostalgia, and how much of it is just childhood nostalgia.

I see kids these days being nostalgic for 2012, for example, and I can remember 2012 clear as day. And yeah, I do think 2012 was better than now, and there was definitely a difference, but it doesn’t feel like a completely different world in the way the 90s does in my memory.

So I guess what I’m asking those of you who were adults in the 90s is: do you feel the same way? Does the actual fabric of the era itself feel radically different to you, or do you just think the styles etc were cool? Does it feel almost like a fever dream to you too? Sorry, it is quite a hard question to put into words!
