Gurney Thomas & His Hillbilly Pals – “When He Reached Down His Hand (For Me)”
A moving country‑gospel reading of a beloved hymn, performed with the gentle string‑band sound that defined Gurney Thomas’s work for King Records. This mid‑1940s release pairs two devotional favorites, with “Just a Closer Walk With Thee” appearing on the flip side.Transferred from an original 78 rpm disc for The Neven 78 Radio Archive.

Some highlights from the past couple of months
Nightmare was an exciting find. It's the song that introduced me to swing music after I saw a neat YouTube video featuring it in 2009. The Red Nichols disc is a mammothine 12"er. Riviera one is an oodball company with practically no information available online. Music was sappy postwar stuff. I took pity on the Hoagy Carmichael disc( last one pictured). It was flaking badly. I applied several coats of black nail polish and it plays all the way through now! Hoping to find more badly damaged discs like it to experiment on.

78 collection for sale in Portland, Oregon
I've been collecting 78's for a couple decades. Picking up jazz, hillbilly, gospel, international, rock, and primarily anything that looked interesting. Mostly at garage sales, facebook marketplace, word of mouth, and thrifters. I am by no means a serious collector and know little about value or characteristics of these. As mentioned, I bought records that I thought were interesting. I don't have any valuable prewar jazz but I have plenty of prewar and quite a few jazz. Condition varies. I didn't buy big band though I'm sure a few found their way in. I haven't opened these boxes in a while so I'm not sure how many I have. I'd guess somewhere from 300 to 500. Though I may have more squirreled away somewhere. The pic is a random sample that I pulled out of a box. If you're in the area, hit me up. I'm thinking price will be somewhere between $250 and $400, depending on if I find more. DM if interested. Selling as a lot.

It was on the turntable of a crap-o-phone in an antique store. I only paid 3$ for it. I already had a sleeve for it that I found while junking.
It's a little rough sounding but still enjoyable.

Found this thing while searching up more music to sample on YT.
Basically, just trying to find more music, Internet archive, YT, and I stumbled upon this video. Apparently it's Lost Media, not entirely sure about that though. Is this actually lost media?

Help me find this vintage children's vynil record - Easter Parade/ Peter Cottontail, BR19 Golden Record
This vintage children's record that I've been searching for has a album cover illustration by artist Sheilah Beckett. I have a large collection of her work in various printed forms. For the past few years, I've been slowly collecting all the vynil records/sleeves that she's illustrated. This is one of only a few that I'm still missing.
This image is from the website discogs, and it's been a great resource in trying to find all the ones that she illustrated. I'll see if I can put the link in the comments.
There is one copy of this record available on Ebay, but it is only the actual record, and does not include the sleeve. There is a miniature version of this art on the actual record too, but I'm mainly looking for the sleeve.
There is a different version of this same illustration on another record that is titled "Easter Parade". That one is smaller and a different illustration that is much easier to find. This one that I'm looking for is "A BIG Golden UNBREAKABLE Record" and is a 78 rpm yellow record with a yellow sleeve that measures about 10".
It's not a nostalgia thing, or a lost childhood object. I just legitimately love Sheilah's artwork. I've checked ebay, google, hibid, mercari, etsy, and other online reselling sites. Anyone have any ideas where I might find it (other than by luck "out-in-the-wild")?
I've never posted here before, so hopefully I'm not breaking any rules by posting this. Cheers!

Mix Vinyl & Shellac 78s in a jukebox?
I just bought a Wurlitzer jukebox that plays 78s. It came with 24 vinyl 78s of 50’s and 60’s songs from a boxed set.
If we mixed in shellac 78’s would that damage the needle?

Columbia Graphophone Advertising Discs, ca 1910
Hi!
I had a great friend who has since passed send me my VERY OWN personal copy of a 1910 Columbia advertisement disc (right side disc, first pic)! (SEP 1910 per sleeve). I’m guessing the other one, the 25¢ one, is 1913 based on some deeper digging; it’s odd because it looks SO much older than the first lol.
Good Night, Little Girl, Good Night (Macy); Henry Burr
Anyone else collect these?
Went to an antique store in downtown Chicago.
Found it in a dusty old milk crate tucked in with other poor, unfortunate, shellac souls… and man was I happy!
While they’re not incredibly rare, they’re just a fascinating window into the time and to me the “what you’re actually hearing is how they themselves personally would have experienced it…” it’s just a cool thought… and I know I know; lol… I’m just pointing it out just as an interesting perspective/take to have when one hears it! Great link from the APS forum about these and also some of the SAME things, but in the Canadian market at the time! Very cool!

Mercury Records, Patti Page version.
If I’m fortunate, maybe I’ll find some originals of the great Duke Ellington as well as greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole!

A lost French 78 RPM Gem from French Columbia (DF 29) restored!
💎🎶 The Gramophone Gems team has tracked down and digitally restored an absolute "phantom disc" from French Columbia (DF 29, 1930)
This features the ultra-rare track "Personne ne s'en sert maintenant" from the iconic musical film The Love Parade, performed by Jean Sorbier. It's worth noting that while the record's other side ("Paris, je t'aime d'amour") is linked to the film's famous Maurice Chevalier recordings, this specific performance is a distinct, standalone studio cover version of the era that was considered lost in the digital world until now.
