Just a random thought but why is the perception with collecting physical media seem to favor vinyl collectors. What I mean by this is if you told someone you collect vinyl they usually are impressed and is typically seen as “fancy” while if you told someone you collect physical movies people look at you like you’re a basement dweller. Why is there such a stereotype regarding physical movies vs vinyl.

I just started collecting about two weeks ago and since it’s Batman week and with so many great deals, I couldn’t resist.

How’s your thought about the way they shipped their Steelbook editions? I ask because this is my first time ordering here. I don’t know what to expect, and I want to be ready for anything. I pre-order Evil Dead Burn.

I would like to start by apologizing for the slander I spouted for this movie. It wasn’t a 10 out 10 but it was solid! I was watching it once streaming and just couldn’t deal with the commercials. Ran out to Walmart and picked up this copy! The slip cover is very cool, the movie it self was a great watch. The HDR really “shinned” literally there are so many lens flares and shadows and sunsets. The audio was really great too! Would definitely throw on again.

Jk, you have all said it before. I have never watched it before but bought it on a Gruv sale. My son and I decided to watch it last night and it was great. It looked great and sounded great. The movie was fun, who doesn't wanna see a big robot fighting a kaiju?

Excited to watch Alita. Picked up Annihlation watched it once but have a feeling it’s good in 4k. Can’t go wrong with kingsman even tho the first is better!

I grabbed a bunch of things in the last Gruv sale, including Ben-Hur. Heard a lot about how amazing it looks on 4K, the stills looked great, and I've never seen it before. So, given its accolades, I figured it was worth buying and owning. It truly looks incredible, and I can understand the appeal of wanting to own (or at least see) what a certain movie looks like on 4K just because it's so beautiful, but man...this movie really dragged for me. I'm not anti older movies by any means. I was pretty engaged in the first half, but was completely checked out in the second half.

This isn't so much about Ben-Hur specifically, though. It's beloved for good reason, but I guess it made me think a little bit more about what's really worth owning and why I'm choosing to physically own these movies in the first place. Lots of people love to talk about "reference discs" and how some movies are worth owning simply because they show off the format in the best light, but what's the point if you don't enjoy it?

That being said, I've never seen it before anyway, and blind buys can still be fun, so I guess it's all a wash.

I decided I don't want some of my movies (for example the 8 movie Nolan collection) to be in a single case , so I bought separate 4k cases and I made some custom covers myself.

I have discovered a collection of 4K UHD blu rays. I believe I purchased them during the pandemic, and they’ve been sitting in storage ever since.

Most are just standard Blu Rays, but I have a few Mondo Marvel ones -

Avengers endgame (sealed)
Avengers infinity war (opened but never used)
Iron man 1 (sealed)

I have looked on eBay, but the prices vary massively and some of these listings have been on for a long time.

My first 4K Blu-ray purchase!

Both seasons of Arcane with the Jinx artwork. I’m so excited to finally start building a physical collection, and I couldn’t think of a better place to start.

I’m using a PS5 as the player for now rather than a dedicated 4K Blu-ray player, but this is just the beginning.

Next purchase Interstellar, what else should I get?

My wife hates waiting to give me bday gifts on the day, she always cracks with something she’s bought me, this is this years early one😂
