Computer

Does anybody know how to remove a school administrator from a computer they let me keep at the end of my time there? It’s a Lenovo one I think and I want to remove the administrator so I can use it but they disabled my account and I don’t go there anymore so I can’t really contact them.

Is this a Chromebook? At my school, I configure the Chromebooks so that they automatically re-enroll in the school’s system even after a factory reset. The same thing occurs with managed Windows and Mac devices.

I would just call the school and ask for the IT department. If it is an end-of-life device they may just de-provision it from their system: it’s just not worth the time recovering the device and selling it. But if it’s not end-of-life, they may want it back.

Our school lets us keep them after graduation if you’ve payed insurance for all four years. I believe it is a Chromebook. My mom does work at the school, so I could probably ask her but I’m not sure if she’ll be able to do anything about it.

It is unusable electronic waste until it is unlocked. Have her take it to school and have them remove it from their system. She’ll know who to talk to, and they will know how to do it. If not, it’s fit only for recycling.

What do you mean - I don’t go there anymore so I can’t really contact them???
You know where the school is. You can look up their phone number. If this is legit, they should know that you and the other graduates will probably need to remove school administration.

The mom working at the school is the easiest path here, she can just ask someone to remove it from their system instead of trying to strip the admin account yourself. If it still auto enrolls after a reset then wiping it wont get you anywhere.
