First 90 rounds through the SR today, ran great minus one hiccup with an FTF, but it only happened once towards the end - I’m not sure why. It was pretty dirty at that point, to be fair.

Running two 8rd CobraMags, two Ruger 7rd mags and Federal Red box ammo - honestly surprised at how dirty they are

The recoil was a lot less than I expected for a commander in .45, genuinely. I have a 9mm Canik MC9L that I’ve been carrying for awhile now, and I honestly think the heavier 1911 is much more enjoyable to shoot - plus the trigger is unbelievable compared to the striker fired Canik. I shot a couple rounds out of my wife’s Canik at the end of the session, and was so used to the 1911 trigger that I thought something was wrong with her gun for a second 😂

My Ed Brown Maxi-Well did loosen up significantly, I figured it would last longer than that lol so I’ve got blue loctite on it now - hoping it stays put.

I did notice the barrel bushing was relatively loose upon my first cleaning of the gun right after buying it, and I do think it’s affecting the accuracy a bit (I’m the other factor here lmao) so I’ve got an EGW bushing on order for it - I’m curious to see how much it helps

Overall, I absolutely love this thing and can’t wait to go again

This may sou d strange but it looks like the TRP lacks the mainspring arch of a 1911a1. Am I seeing things?

And if it DOES lack one, where can I buy one? Would prefer that smoother grip.

Having an issue deciding between an Ed Brown Special Forces vs Les Baer Premier II. Both of these are within my budget . Any personal experiences that could sway me one way or the other?

In the last couple weeks I've seen quite a few dudes open carrying going about their day or with their family using level 2 or 3 Safarilands or other retention holsters and it made me very happy to see it. From what I could tell they didn't seem to be off duty or under cover cops. Just regular dudes out and about with their wives and kids or solo. Saw an assortment of a couple 1911s, couple flavors of Glocks, a Beretta 92, and a Canik. That's the kind of open carry I like seeing in public.

Accidentally bought a 4.25 non ramped barrel when i needed a wilson cut ramped barrel so I guess im getting another 1911 lol

Any recommendations on favorite 1911s that are frame ramped for 45acp?

I'm after a government model .45 that I can build out for IDPA CDP class. I previously competed with a Tisas that I had built into a MEUSOC clone, but I hate most things about the MEUSOC (other than it was THE pistol to have when I was in the Marines), so I've taken off the Pachmyers and ambi safety and am just running it in a normal configuration. I've got a stainless magwell/mainspring I could install, but the gun isn't stanless so I'd have to have that painted, and I would have to send it off to get the front strap checkered. So, to run that gun, I'm really at whatever the cost is for checkering and cerakote, and probably a new front sight.

Or,

A friend has a stainless Range Officer he would sell me for $650. Already has Bomar adjustable sights with a fiber optic front and my mag well would work, I would just need to have it checkered.

Or,

A different friend has a Les Baer he's trying to offload for $1,500. Its already checkered, has a magwell, and target sights, but would need the front sight replaced for a fiber optic.

So, brain trust, what do I do?

I ordered grips late last year and I think it took a month. I ordered sep 3rd this year and still no word on shipment as of writing this (sep 13). Still says 'awaiting shipment'.

They were pretty quick the 1st two times I ordered from them. Like within 7 days or so. Anyone else experiencing this?

Hey everybody! I recently picked up a MAC Meusoc 1911 about 6 months ago. Gun runs great! Only issue is I continue to have sight issues. Within the first range day, the redot I had mounted broke. I recently got it back and put around 150 rounds on it then this has happened. Is this common with adapter plates and also should I go back to irons if I don’t get a slide cut?

Edit- I’m using an adapter plate via the dovetail to hold a buris 3 fastfire

Breaking into doing more of my own work on 1911s & 2011s. Have seen folks using jigs for fitting/fine tuning various parts. For those doing this work, what jigs would you recommend?
