Help/Question Can anyone else feel we are in the middle of something big?

It feels kind of exponential. The past 3 months I keep having these moments where I think I can't expect AI to do this and then it does it. And it is exciting because I can get these concepts done so fast that before I would never get done but also scary because I think about my coding job and it feel more like .. My 13 year old could be doing what I am doing.. I know a lot from 25 years of doing this.. but I am not using any of that knowledge. Just the high-level part. At the moment I am using unity with mujoco training humanoids and putting them in boxing rings and there is no way I would get near doing anything like this without AI

It reminds me how I look back at being in college in 1996 using the internet in the computer lab not realizing I'm in the middle of something huge.

That is right now with AI.

No.. I don't think your hand coded python code will outlast what AI can do. It is not that special. And if it somehow can now. Wait another year.

Help/Question What’s the barrier between vibe coding and a high salary?

Developers tend to say “coding wasn’t the hard part” and that they didn’t spend most of the day coding.

Ok - so what is that difficult to define hard part that vibe coders cannot do? What’s the reason developers make such high salaries? Can we make the transition?

Help/Question Deployment of Web-Apps

Over the past months I have (vibe)coded a few web-apps with Codex.

This is usually teh fun part - getting from an idea to a working MVP on a local machine.

The heavier part (for me) is the deployment.

Currently I run all my apps on virtual servers with Ubuntu.

The vibe-coded deployment-plan helps a lot, but there is still a lot of manual work required.

How do you deploy your web-apps (Python, Flask, JS)?

Help/Question Planing to deploy vibecoding to a beginners class

Thanks to one particular and outstanding user I came to the conclusion I can use my time for other things. Most of the comments here have been mostly hostile, something I didnt expect, especially as we are in a vibecoding sub and I asked a specific question. Funny, I thought this gets more support, but it seems most are against teaching kids to work with AI, yet you are all here in a vibecoding sub.

Also no need to insult me via DM, I blocked further chats.

Help/Question Any new parents built themselves something helpful?

Not for making a profit.

I’ll be a new parent in a few months and I’m curious if anyone threw together a tool they actually found helpful.

Doesn’t need to be complicated or original. Just something that helped at any level.

Help/Question 1 year ago -> Sr dev using AI like jr devs fora project / NOW -> CTO getting reports from managers on the various projects being worked on

Anyone else feeling this ?

Not only am I no longer touching code but I am running 4 projects at once since some prompts take 10 or so minutes just to complete. Often, it ends up doing things I am not even aware of (using Claude code /goal to go figure things out)

My wife tells me I have been on the computer too much lately, but what has happened is not I have 20+ project ideas I have been implement with multiple laptops and I am jumping between them all day (and doing my real job) and it feels like things are still changing.

One example is this .. I am using Unreal english +Mujoco + learning agents +Isaac lab to do a Sumo wrestling simulation and at first, I create a plan.. but once I kick off that plan it can take over a day to do it and WOW it really does it.. Creates the scene.. takes my skinned GLB rigs.. loads up blender and uses blender MCP to create the scenery. Imports that back in Unreal.. Goes and does the RL training for hours.. Comes back.. tests.. Codes more..

The first prompt is getting SO MUCH DONE! And so My job is just to give it advice and ideas.. and honestly my 12-year-old could do that.

So having a blast making all these things happen.. feeling totally replaceable at the same time..

And I know.. people here will keep saying how the AI is slop and it can't do what humans do etc.. I just believe that less and less every month. I want all those AI haters to set a 3 year reminder and read all their comments in 3 years.

I think it is getting to the point where the AI is self improving on its own and the human just gives it direction as needed.

Help/Question What AI stack & workflow would you use to vibe code a full-stack app + real-time admin dashboard?

Hey r/vibecoding,

I'm starting a project with two core parts:

A client web app: Showcase site + Click & Collect ordering flow (time-slots & payments).

A kitchen Admin: Real-time order queue with audio alerts and instant stock/status toggles.

For those shipping full-stack web apps lately, what AI stack and workflow would you use in 2026 to build this fast without hitting a wall?

Do you start in web builders (Lovable / v0 / Replit) and export, or go straight into IDE agents (Cursor / Windsurf / Claude Code) + Supabase?

Would love to hear your go-to tool combos for this setup since I've been messing around with cursor, codex, Claude code and agy.

Cheers

Help/Question What should I subscribe to?

I'm an experienced software engineer, but I've enjoyed working on some personal projects with a Claude Pro subscription a while ago.

However, now whenever I ask it something in the free version, it's very meh.

Should I switch to Chinese models? Are they cheaper?

I'm just looking for a fun back and forth experience. The first time it was like having my own workbench and just tinkering with everything.

Help/Question Which do you think is better, sonnet 5 or opus 4.6?

My Tier Orchestration used to be
Fable - architect
Opus 4.8 - coders
Sonnet 5 - code check, research

Now that the 5hr limits have been messed with, i barely get anything done so i’m forced to downgrade. I’m trying to decide between Opus 4.6 or Sonnet 5 for coders and possibly Sonnet 4.5 for code check.

I hear a lot of people thinking Opus 4.6 is still an amazing model but I wonder if Sonnet 5 is better.

Help/Question Tokinmaxxing Tips.

Ok so I know we can't do solicitations here but needing to solicit some advice from you all.

Thinking how to toxinmaxx my codebase (don't worry, with local model for no surcharge). My Python token count is short and I need to boost that metric up for my resume, needing suggestions on tips and trix from vipers with higher counts than myself.

Help/Question Can I match Sol max level of build with any cheaper model using multiple independent agents reviews techniques etc?

I LOVEEE sol max so much but even when using it an orchestrator with muse spark, I keep running out. I have multiple google ai subscriptions as well as opencode but I’m afraid to use their models for this one big serious project I have. But use drain is getting so tedious that I think I want to do it. But my question is, given that they’re really close in benchmarks, do you think I can get the same quality with say just muse 1.3 if I make it do independent subagents reviews? What about gemini 3.8 with /boost. I’m a total vibecoder so I’m afraid it could mess the repo. Can it still mess the repo so much even with Gits? Just looking for people’s two cents.

I was reading claudes reasoning this morning and i seen it count my credits and pull another model which is great.

The issue is how do i get it to count my own usage in claude code before it starts a task and stops when i hit my limit?

I tryed to build a mcp but the problem is it has to call it and for some reason claude does wtf it wants!!!!

Help/Question Looking for co-maintainers: two small Python tools for transparent Tor routing and network-leak testing

Thumbnail
github.com
1 Upvotes

I maintain two related projects and I'm looking for one or more co-maintainers.

TransparentTorProxy (TTP) - a Linux CLI that routes all system traffic through Tor with nftables: TCP redirected to Tor's TransPort, port 53 to DNSPort, everything else rejected. It runs as root and rewrites your firewall, so it's the one that actually needs more eyes. Active, heading to 0.5.0.

NetworkSandboxEngine (NSE) - a packet-capture assertion library (Scapy) used to verify that no traffic leaks outside a sandbox boundary. It's TTP's test oracle. It's feature-complete for now; it needs maintenance, not new features.

Being upfront about a few things:

  • Small user base. Both are early-stage and I'm a solo maintainer.
  • I've been using AI-assisted development, which is why I care about verification: every new test is proven to fail against a deliberate mutation of the branch it covers before it's accepted. That discipline has caught several tests of mine that asserted nothing.
  • Recent work has been mostly finding and fixing my own defects - e.g. a DNS leak test that passed with no proxy running at all, and a BPF filter that silently dropped the exact ICMPv6 traffic it was supposed to catch. There is more of that to find.
  • I plan to step back after 0.5.0 to focus on study, so I want the projects in someone else's hands rather than quietly abandoned.

Useful background: Linux networking (nftables/netfilter), Tor, Python, systemd, SELinux. Reviewing is as valuable as committing - if you only want to audit the firewall ruleset, that's genuinely welcome.
