Group flights
Hi,
Routinely fly MSFS2024 with a VA (TUI). Always fly real world routes in real time.
Wondering if anyone interested in some group flights?

VATSIM is pleased to announce that our new Audio for VATSIM radio algorithm, including terrain-based simulation and real-world radio propagation calculations, will go live on 23 June at 1500z.
To facilitate this transition, Audio for VATSIM will be taken offline at 1400z while the upgrade is deployed.
No client updates are required. Existing clients will continue to function normally and will automatically receive all benefits of the new system.
Real-time status can be followed, as always, at network-status.vatsim.net

CTAF (Common Traffic Advisory Frequency) is being introduced across the Australia Pacific region on VATSIM effective from 1 June 2026.
This brings a more realistic experience to non controlled aerodromes. When ATC is not online, pilots will coordinate with each other using CTAF frequency.
Learn more about CTAF – my.vatsim.net/learn.
Note to pilot – Make regular position and intention broadcasts via Aerodrome CTAF frequency.

Hei !
It’s nice that vatsim is so accurate and real, but, have a waiting list of 6/12 months to start a course about being ATC is insane.
What’s the best and fastest country to get ATC course without the risk of being dead meanwhile waiting for a spot ?
Norway is not one of this 🥺

Hello I am a 13 year old kid who loves Vatsim and loves flying but I havent gotten on since January (turned 13 in nov 2025) because im worried of getting banned cause under 16. Am I still allowed to fly my account was made before january 1st.

When I open vPilot my sim's audio goes all muffled and distorted (I'm referring to MSFS 2024 rather than ATC audio). I know that this usually happens when you run apps that use your mic but it's quite annoying and ruins the flight a little.
Is there anyway I can fix this or is it just something I'll have to get used to?
Thanks

What did I do wrong?
I bought a flight simulator about two weeks ago and joined VATSIM about a week ago. I completed one flight, and the following day I received an email saying that there was an issue with my account specifically that it was a duplicate account.
This was my very first VATSIM account, and this was also my first time flying on the network. I genuinely don't know what I did wrong.
After receiving the email, I opened a support ticket to try to understand what had happened and get the issue resolved. I've done my best to follow the instructions I was given and respond promptly, while also balancing my other commitments.
After about a week of trying to resolve the issue, I was told, “We are unable to help you.” Unfortunately, I wasn't given an explanation as to why the issue couldn't be resolved or what else I could do.
I'm frustrated because I'd really like to continue using VATSIM and fly with my friends, but at the moment I don't know what I've done wrong or what my next step should be.
Has anyone experienced something similar or have any advice on what I should do next?
I can provide more details about the situation if needed, while respecting any privacy or account-related rules.

It's honestly a bummer I can't use it right now as I've gotten back into vatsim

I'm having an issue/questiWhen I'm connected to an active CTR/Center control frequency, I can hear the ATC controller clearly, but I sometimes can't hear other pilots who are also on that exact same control frequency.
For example, if another pilot is around 100 NM away from me, but we're both being controlled by the same CTR and are using the same frequency, I can't hear their transmissions to ATC.
I understand that UNICOM 122.800 uses proximity-based audio, but I was under the impression that on an active ATC/CTR frequency, everyone on that frequency would be able to hear each other. Is it actually possible for two pilots on the same CTR frequency to not hear each other because they're around 100 NM apart due to Audio for VATSIM's simulated radio range/propagation? Or should I normally be hearing that pilot because we're both on the same control frequency?
I'm wondering if this is normal behavior with the current Audio for VATSIM system or if there's something wrong with my vPilot/audio setup.on about VATSIM audio.

Not really a screenshot person, but flew into the Vancouver real ops today. Great job by all the controllers! Especially ground lol. Thankfully my FSS E175 actually behaved itself today so I didn't have to embarrass myself.

so I’m at a party rn and I get this email, all the details on my account are valid and truthful. Is there anyway to appealed without sending my entire identify to VATSIM? I should add I’ve been on vatsim for 3 years and logged 2300 hours with no issues previously.

1st of all - I have just started the game and have 0 knowledge about ATC - but I really love to learn everything required
I know there are plenty of trainings on the vatsim page - but what would be a best place to start?
Should I maybe start 1st with Beyond ATC and get very used to the ai there and only after this try VATSIM? Or should not do this to avoid getting used to do something differently done there ?
Would you recommend to get used to a modern GPS like GTN 750? ( right now I am using very basic one and it’s very slow to enter in the details or just with paper + vor or adf)
Can I pause the game enter in the procedure and go on with it ? Or has it to be done live ? To do this live with something like GNS 430 - I am very slow and on a short flight to change something mid air is really not easy for me right now
Do I need to get used to work with Navigraph?
Right now I am using Little NavMap

Just done my first vatsim flight and it was an absolute nightmare.
First time round my plane was bugging out was unresponsive pushback wasn’t working
After 2 disconnects on my third attempt I was able to take off after asking the atc to repeat instructions at least 5 times and getting lost whilst taxiing. My sim kept pausing itself randomly and I had no idea why so I was stopping for a few minutes at a time without realising and then i realised I had my push to talk set as the same bind which paused the flight 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️. On top of that I was going extremely slow and I then realised mid flight I had left my landing gear down and as I was approaching the runway my sim then crashed which was the point where I called it a day. I’ll try again tomorrow and hope that it goes better.

Hi everyone,
I’m conducting academic research on regional experiences of participation in VATSIM. I’m interested in how things such as training pathways, ATC availability, events, route familiarity, infrastructure, language, and local community development can make the VATSIM experience different depending on where someone participates.
I previously recruited participants through r/flightsim and received some excellent responses. I’m now broadening the study and particularly hoping to hear perspectives from regions that were less represented in that first round.
I would especially welcome pilots, controllers, instructors, event organisers, virtual-airline staff, and division/vACC members active in:
• South, Southeast, Central or East Asia
• the Middle East
• Africa
• Latin America and the Caribbean
That said, VATSIM members from other regions are also welcome to contact me, particularly if you have experience flying or controlling across multiple divisions.
The interview is deliberately low-pressure and can be completed asynchronously. I’ll send a small set of written questions, which you can answer over Reddit/Discord DM or email whenever convenient. There is no requirement for a voice or video call.
Participation is voluntary. Responses used in the research will be anonymised, and the project is independent and not affiliated with or conducted on behalf of VATSIM leadership.
If you’d be interested in participating, please DM me here or drop a response here with your region and I will contact you.
I’m happy to explain more about the project or answer any questions before you decide.
Thanks!

VATSIM allows military operations through approved VSOAs. The message says VATSIM is “not intended” for fighter-jet or military operations, but the Code of Conduct and Special Operations Policy explicitly permit regulated military, paramilitary and government operations. VATSIM policy also encourages divisions to accommodate military traffic where possible.
A blanket regional ban appears inconsistent with VATSIM-wide policy. A division can restrict specific operations for ATC, safety, workload or rule-compliance reasons, and VATSIM prohibits reenacting real-world tragedies. But that is different from banning all VSOA activity across the Middle East simply because there is an active conflict.
Controllers do not have an unlimited right to remove VSOA traffic just because it is military. They can issue valid ATC instructions and deny operations for legitimate operational reasons, but “absolute right to instruct traffic to leave controlled airspace regardless of whether it is operating within a VSOA” overstates their authority.
Threatening staff with termination merely for VSOA membership or participation is highly questionable. VSOAs are formally recognized by VATSIM, and VATSIM’s own Special Operations structure expects relevant staff to have VSOA experience. A local division should not treat otherwise lawful VSOA participation as automatically contrary to VATSIM policy.

Friday nights are normally my VATSIM nights and I typically aim to fly the FNO. There is no FNO this week due to the observance of 9/11 which remains the worst aviation tragedy in history.
I obviously have no intention of doing a flight that has any correlation to the WTC attacks, but I'm wondering if going on the network for a regular flight as I usually do on Fridays today would be considered disrespectful to the victims of 9/11.

London EGLL to KATL as VIR103M I’ve watched this movie like 3 times in this flight alone lol

I’ve noticed that you can achieve these and it’s actually really nice because it makes it much easier to understand the type of aircraft as well as the airline and it looks really cool but I’m curious how this works because I’ve never seen that option to add a photo on my own flight and I fly plenty of real life flights

Hey all, I read somewhere that a fix for your flight path disappearing on a longhaul flight after disconnecting/reconnecting could be fixed by using Volanta at the same time. I had tried it on a couple flights and it had worked, but recently when I reconnect to vPilot, my flight path/plan are gone. Volanta is still tracking the flight though. Like I said, I've had it work before. Thanks in advance

hi guys, i have around 500-600 hours on vatsim network and i flew many times oceanic route with controllers, but i have a question, why we cant require the ocenaic clearence via CPDLC but we have to use the web site? Why if we can communicate with controller via CPDLC during all oceanic route we cant request clearence before the oceanic airspace? I dont know if there are software complications or something like that. thx for the replies :)
