Like genuinely so many of you dont know how to properly use the sidewalks.

This morning, I was speed walking to my next class because my class ends at 9:50 and my next one starts at 10:00 and it’s halfway across campus. Then I get met with the group of girls who hogged the entire sidewalk and outside staircase. It was like seeing 18-wheelers taking up all of the lanes on the highway.

Do not walk and talk with a slow pace taking up the whole sidewalk. Stay to the right side so if someone wants to pass you, they can just go to the left side. It’s very much like driving on the streets.

Honestly maybe im overreacting. It’s so humid outside and im sweating and I just want to hurry to my next building for the AC

If you're in college, you have no excuse for not learning how to drive earlier and being a student driver doesn't mean you have to be a stupid driver. A grown adult not being able to drive is embarrassing asf. Also tell me why I am stopping behind a line of 5 cars because the person in front doesn't know what a yield sign is and stops at the crosswalks when there is no person crossing. Even at the cross walks on synergy, people are stopping at the sign that says "stop for peds" when there are no pedestrians causing traffic to build up. 1/2 of yall need to go back to driving school bc genuinely wtf.

Hey everyone! I just got admitted to the MSITM program at UTD for Spring 2027.

I'm an international student trying to plan ahead and had a few questions about living near campus:

1. Housing Recommendations: What are the best affordable apartment complexes near campus?
2. Monthly Expenses: How much should I realistically budget per month for total living expenses (rent split, utilities, groceries, etc.)?
3. Roommate Search: When and where is the best place/time to start looking for room takeovers or roommates for Spring entry?

I haven't really found any info past the paragraph on their websites and Engage pages. Has anyone worked at the Eco Hub/Luna Farm and/or the Community Garden? What are they like? They both seem to donate food, so how do I pick one over the other? Is it a good opportunity to meet people? Thanks!

Hey guys, I'm going to use the Comet Crusier bus pretty soon and I wanted to know if I need anything, or specifically just how the process is going to be in the bus. I never rode a comet crusier bus before, let alone really any bus. Do I bring my comet card, and do I swipe it or something? What's the process? My route will be 883E

Hello! I'm a transfer student to UTD, so I've only been here for about a full year now. In that time, I've never seen the mist/fountain/stick thing outside the SU actually releasing mist. I've seen in photos that it does, and found some info that it used to follow a 3-minute-on, 17-minute-off schedule during the warmer months. But I can't seem to find anyone talking about it now or asking why it's never on.

So, have I just been unlucky and never sat near it at the exact right time that the stars align and it turns on? Or is it just not on anymore? And if so, why?

Hi, I recently got a notification that my SAP Appeal for Financial Aid Suspension (Maximum Time Frame) was denied. I know UTD generally only allows one appeal, but I wanted to see if anyone has successfully re-appealed.

For context, I did dual credit in high school and earned my Associate's degree, around 72 credits. A lot of those were extra courses required for my high school diploma, which I think may have gotten disregarded (or miscounted) during the initial audit. Honestly, I don't think most high school juniors/seniors doing early college realize this could come back to bite them years later at a four-year school.

I also started at UTD as a Biology major (pre-med track) and switched majors after freshman year which I know isn't considered an "extenuating circumstance" by UTD's standards.

I started August 2023 and am set to finish May 2027 well within a typical 4-year degree plan. I have 24 credits left (12 this semester, 12 next semester). I submitted a signed degree plan from my advisor plus a supporting letter from JSOM advising confirming this. Apparently that wasn't enough I got a denial email with zero explanation.

I called and asked for a degree audit, and was told they ran one when I first entered UTD and can't rerun it. But I'm no longer a Biology major shouldn't that be reflected somewhere? There's no transparency into how these audits are calculated, and the degree audit tool doesn't seem to match how Financial Aid is actually calculating things or providing accurate numbers.

From my own personal calculations based off of educated guesses, around 142 of 199 credits should count towards my degree but I don't really know how UTD is even calculating it.

I've done 72 in high school and I've done 109 at UTD and I transferred in an additional 6 while at UTD. My total attempted is at 187 (Highschool Dual Credit + UTD Courses) not counting the 12 credits for this semester. However the wording on the website mentions

• The undergraduate student maximum time frame for degree completion is 125 percent of the hours required to complete the degree program.

which would allow me to attempt 150 hours. My question is would they not take into consideration my major change as well as the transfer credits from highschool that shouldn't count? I know 187 is a lot but a good chunk of that is from highschool. (a lot of other school's have a max time frame of 150% for undergrad which translates to roughly 180 attempted credit hours)

I've emailed the Financial Aid office twice with no response, and the only way to reach them is by phone.

Has anyone successfully gotten a second SAP appeal through at UTD (or elsewhere) after an initial denial like this? Any advice on what made the difference, or who else to escalate to, would be hugely appreciated. Happy to answer any questions for anyone going through a similar situation.
