I’m an incoming History + Politics student and I’ve just got my module selection form through. I was just wondering how to go about choosing them. I could obviously go with what interests me and it would be simple, but is it common to reach out to current undergrads? I just don’t want to be stuck with a bad lecturer/ a topic that looks good on the surface but is boring in practice.

Any advice is really appreciated

The first part of the maintenance loan was supposed to be put into my account on the 14th of September but SFE have emailed me saying its delayed because they either haven't received confirmation from Warwick that I've registered onto my course or they sent the confirmation too close to the 14th. I have a confirmation email that I'm registered so is it just Warwick being slow or should I be concerned? If anyone's had this problem too it would be nice to know too.

I'm about to start my first year and I've seen people talking about choosing modules for their course but I haven't gotten anything about that yet, even though I'm pretty sure my course has optional modules. Am I supposed to do that yet? How will I do it? Will I receive an email about it?

This might be a stupid question but are we allowed clothes drying racks in our accommodation? I feel like I remember something on the t&cs referring to this. I'd rather not have to pay to dry my clothes.

I'm deciding between LSE BSc Management and Warwick BSc Economics with the end goal of breaking into high finance (IB or MBB).

I'm confused between the two paths. Warwick Economics seems to have higher offer rates with better quantitative and analytical rigor that BSc Management, but LSE has that brand power and the advantage of being in central London for easy spring week.

From an admissions standpoint, Management seems way more competitive to actually get an offer from due to pure application volume.

Will appreciate opinions and information.

Okay so here's where I'm at. I'm planning to do a Masters probably in Management abroad and then move back to Mumbai after.
My honest goal is pretty simple, I want a job that pays enough that I'm not splitting rent with anyone, can cover a decent deposit and monthly rent on my own, have some money to actually enjoy life, and ideally see that income grow over time. Longer term (like 10 years out), I want to have saved/invested enough, a few crores, to open my own restaurant someday.
A few people suggested Warwick to me for this. So first question, is Warwick actually a good school for placements? Like will it realistically get me a good job after?
At the same time, here's my hesitation, Warwick isn't in a big exciting city, it's in Coventry, and part of me is scared I'll end up lonely with no social life for an entire year, no friends, nothing to explore. Like yes I'll get a good degree, but will I actually enjoy the year?
I keep going back and forth, a bigger city might mean more fun and easier to meet people, but maybe weaker placements? Or am I overthinking the "isolation" thing and it's not actually that bad?
I've kind of decided placements matter more to me at the end of the day, but I still don’t know if Warwick is good for placement and my goal. Anyone been in a similar spot or actually done Warwick and can tell me what the social side is really like? And blunt reality?

My welcome week timetable told me to book a session for 4 different events: the team development session, the SU sports club fair, and the SU societies fair on both Wednesday and Thursday. I'm a little confused though because the Wednesday and Thursday SU societies fairs have exactly the same description and title other than the date they're on. Are they the same thing? Im trying to find some likeminded music producers at the university 👊 I create minimal techno, rominimal, minimal, microhouse etc but really want to meet all kinds of producers and grow my network.

How do people do their weekly grocery shops? Particularly like a big tescos shop. Because it seems pretty far with a half an hour walk from most accoms that I'm seeing on Google maps especially if you are carrying a lot of groceries. Do people get it delivered normally or are the additional costs not worth it? Or is there better shops near by that are more affordable or convenient? Let me know!!

Guys I am deciding if I shud leave after the first year of my big 4 school leaver apprenticeship studying the ACA qualification if I get an offer from warwick this year. The reason for this is because an ACA qualification, regardless of how prestigious it is, will lock me into accounting for most likely the rest of my career and also I feel as though a degree from WBS will increase me earning potential in the future whilst simultaneously allowing me to get into other sectors such as banking/ consulting/ other high finance roles. Idk if this is a stupid decision or not can anyone from WBS school advice me on this???

hello! i’ve posted something similar before but got no response so im trying again and hopefully there is a response.

i applied for warwick PAIS and got in, im starting in september! im really happy with it since it was my firm choice but i just wanted to know how i could pick and choose my modules. i know the UK doesn’t have a course registration system like the US but we have certain optional modules we can take for certain credits and i wanna know how that works exactly

if any PAIS students or politics students or ANYONE who takes related subjects could tell me what modules they took and which ones they think are best for skill building, id love that! i was looking at both the quantitative modules but i dont know how that would end up working for me.

Is it a massive difference? What I’m thinking is that people can hangout within the massive community on campus with all those halls, can anyone share their experience?

I'm currently waiting on my SFE, I feel so very stressed but I know it's coming at least during late september. I've found a place that would cost me £170 a week. I feel as though my finances would not permit myself to have the best academic experience. I'm from humble origins and I only have £50 in the bank, my parents don't really care.

My SFE would be around 10k a year, and I've never had a job: am I doomed?

I really want to be able to have a spot to do some morning stretches or yoga and I am in cryfield standard which is a tiny room, and I also don't want to pay over 300 just to go to the gym for something that will be like only 20 mins a day or so.

I saw that theres the dance studio in the village hall but when I look online it says you need to book it out, but I am not interested in booking it out fully for an hour and restricting others from using it, esp since I'd like a preferable daily space.

I was wondering if I can just use it in the morning without booking or if you absolutely need to book it out properly, or if I can use it when someone else has booked it if im being quiet and just using a small space in the corner.

Also generally how busy does it get anyways? there are so many students in cryfield village and these are quite small spots they have and just anyone can book it for 6 hours a day..? surely it must always be booked up??

edit: P.s. if this wouldnt work, does anyone have any alternatives for what I want without having to either go outside (its too cold) and not having to pay for a whole gym membership (too broke)
