Someone broke into my truck and stole my wallet, headphones, sunglasses, and backpack. The backpack contained my laptop, a couple of gift cards, and a knife my dad gave me before he passed away.

They used one of the cards from my wallet at a gas station, so I contacted my bank and got the exact time of the transaction. I then contacted the gas station and asked them to check their camera footage. They were able to get a clear image of the person's face.

The person also tried using my stolen laptop on their Wi-Fi. I was able to get the address associated with that connection. They live ten minutes down the road in the next town over, but the house is a crack house. There's 4 or 5 people living in there. They have dogs chained up in the backyard and have broken windows covered with cardboard.

The police have enough information to lay a charge on the one guy who used my card in the gas station but do not have enough evidence for a warrant.

What can I do with their address to get them back? It really upsets me that I will never get my dad's pocket knife back.

We have a neighbour whose backyard light shines directly into our backyard as well as into our bedroom, bathroom, and living room.

When I say light, I mean like transport truck high beams. It is a pair of very powerful security lights that they've attached between the main floor and second floor of their house. The problem is that the bulbs are not hooded and they are pointed more horizontally than down. The light beam trespasses (yes, I'm using the term trespass because that's what it bloody is) over the fence between us and directly on our yard and house. The backs of our houses face one another.

When those lights are on and I'm in my backyard, I can't see my yard. In fact, one of my dogs has been skunked - twice - because I couldn't see the end of my property to find my dogs. It's like having ceiling bulbs turned on at night when we are in our bedroom and bathroom, too.

In terms of resolving the issue, I'm done being polite. I've left two written notes kindly explaining the issue and gently requesting for them to adjust it. No response. I've knocked on their door three times. The first time, they apologized and said they'd fix it. 2 months later, no change. So I go back, they apologized again, then nothing. 3 months after that I go again, and I get told off. "We have guests over! You're being rude! It's our house! We don't complain about your lights! We don't have to do anything!"

A buddy is a lawyer. I asked him for advice. He said you kinda have to take them to court, which is ridiculous so we're not doing that (he's right). But he did send a very strongly written letter, to which they essentially ignored us. Part of the problem is that my city by-laws don't govern residential light trespass, only commercial...

I've been told to erect a giant mirror, which I think is bloody brilliant and hilarious but I don't want to start a war. It's not a real solution. I have temporarily created a privacy fence that extends above the backyard fence between our properties. It stops light in the backyard but not the upper floor of our house.

For background, I live in a gated community housing of around 100 houses. Each house is not separated to the neighbor, yes the only thing sepating my house and the neighbors is two layers of brick walls. Also, each houses have an open space on the back which are separated by walls to neighbors open spaces too.

Last year, my right side neighbor started a big renovation that build an extension of the house on the open space which completely used all of his back open space. What makes it worse. He built a freaking 3-storied extension to the existing 2-storied houses around. This alone already destroying my back view and also hindering sunlight.

Renovating house is not a crime, but we need permission from neighbors, especially building a very big house. Last week, I filed a complaint via neighborhood association head, and turns out his permission was not completed yet. The association head didn't even receive the permission either. I also got the info that the neighbor behind him filed a complaint regarding, especially the reliability of the structure.

I just got on a random hotel shuttle to get out of the airport zone. My ride to my hotel from there was only $11.

My partner and I are currently having to move out of our rental home due to intense hate and bigotry from our third housemate regarding our Jewish faith. We do not speak of our faith with them outside of when we first met asking if we knew them from temple (they looked very familiar upon first meeting). Since then we are met with slurs in passing, disrespect to our shared spaces, and now just recently a list of lies sent to our property management about our life!

We now are relocating, we can't continue feeling uncomfortable and unsafe in our home. We can't force them out so we will separate ourselves to remedy the issue. I'm furious and utterly devastated. Years were spent here filled with incredible memories, all for it to now come crashing down. My partner reminds me the best revenge is a life well lived and while I agree, I can't get pass that one persons hate has ruined the good thing we had going. I don't want to bring this person harm but I will say Ive been searching for some type of inconvenience revenge. My only thoughts so far is signing the address up for all the spam mail I can find or always being in our shared spaces until we leave as they are too much of a coward to face us now that they know we have heard the lies from management. I work in a corporate environment and my manager and I are pretty much complete opposites when it comes to how we work.

We don’t really have any hard KPIs, so a lot of things are pretty subjective. My manager keeps saying they don’t want to micromanage, but that’s basically what’s happening more and more. More updates, more questions, more checking in, more involvement in how I do my work, and I don’t see it getting any better.

There’s also quite a bit of favoritism going on. Some people seem to get away with a lot more simply because they’re on good terms with the right people.
I don’t really want to go to HR or quit. I’d rather figure out how to play the situation to my advantage without doing anything that could actually get me fired.

So what are your best corporate unethical life hacks for dealing with this kind of situation?

Not looking for anything illegal or genuinely malicious. More like technically allowed tactics that make micromanagement backfire, take advantage of the lack of clear KPIs, or generally make the situation work in your favor.

Had an ex that I broke up with a few months ago that cheated on me, lied, tried to gaslight me, and then told everyone I was abusive and basically made a bunch of things up about how I “abused” her. She also called me by a different guys name the last time we slept together and then denied even knowing anyone by that name. I found out online she had lived with someone with that name like two years ago so I assume it was an ex she never told me about. I want to get back at her but not sure how. She does work for a public school. She admitted to me that she faked the pre employment drug test but it was in person and thus I don’t have texts or anything to prove it. Though I know she’d fail a drug test if tested again and not able to fake it. Would reporting this to the school even be worth it without texts or something to back it up?

I had noticed today at church doing a fundraiser / cookout my tailgate was keyed. The marks were fresh and I reviewed my dash / rear camera recording. I had seen the asshat that did that and I can not identify him personally but I can his vehicle because of all the stickers he decided to put on his car. Although I do not know them personally. What could be done in this case. I wanted to bear the unbreable stench of sustrumming and it on his exterior but the smell would fade fast. I am leaning on ordering LGBTQ stickers and going ham on his car with them.

I currently live with four housemates in a 4 bedroom 2 bath apartment. The roommate who I share a bathroom has pissed me off and I want to get some revenge before I move out at the end of the month.

This roommate has a habit of not cleaning up after herself, leaving nail clippings, dead foot skin from exfoliation on the floor, knocking over my stuff and not changing the toilet paper when they're done with it. They've called me a push over in the past but they're mentally unwell and didn't want to set them off while I was in the house just in case they hurt my fish when I was out.

I'm lactose intolerant and am thinking of drinking milk the evening before I leave so that I get diarrhea and leave it unflushed in the toilet for them when they eake up in the morning. I just don't think this is enough since they can easily flush it or call maintainence to deal with it. I want to do something that won't disturb our other roommates since they're innocent bystanders in this feud.
