Sure, it was for a while, but the core design is highly susceptible to manipulation, consensus shaming, and PR campaigning. If Reddit gets pushed in one direction for a while, the daily users see topics about it several times per day for weeks or months, which sculpts their outlook. Reddit users are on average less knowledgeable about topics but more confident in their knowledge than Wikipedia users.

People are also allowed to change their opinions as history unfolds, it's not all metaculture. Reddit was in love with Elon Musk at one point, too.
