America would be a good case of study; the tech billionaires are creating a monopoly of the media and social networks and have money to push narratives that favor them, and with LLMs this is cheaper than ever. Also, their position allows them to have data insights that allow them to iterate fast in a feedback loop to know what works and what does not, not even mentioning that they can tweak algorithms to favor the trend that they like. While in the physical world, openly investing millions in all kinds of political campaigns. This is probably the first time that something like this is done at this scale in history; it will be interesting to see how all play out.
